Top Ten Books I’m Not Sure I Want to Read

Happy Tuesday everyone! Today is #TopTenTuesday over at the Broke and the Bookish and today’s topic “Top Ten Books I’m Not Sure I Want To Read (books you may have bought but aren’t sure if you are into it anymore, books you wanted to read but heard mixed things about, hyped books you aren’t sure about — basically any book that has you going, “TO READ OR NOT TO READ?”)” So I have a bit of a confession to make. You already know I’m an admitted bookaholic, but it’s time that I own up to another addiction…..the one click button on Amazon. If it’s on sale for $0.99 or 🙄 free, I get it. Right now on my Kindle I have over 100 books I haven’t read and to be completely transparent, some of them I don’t even remember what they are about 😯 So my list for today are based off books that have been recommended and I already own or are popular right now.

Top Ten Books I’m Not Sure I Want to Read

Obsidian by Jennifer L. Armentrout

When we moved to West Virginia right before my senior year, I’d pretty much resigned myself to thick accents, dodgy internet access, and a whole lot of boring… until I spotted my hot neighbor, with his looming height and eerie green eyes. Things were looking up.
And then he opened his mouth.

Daemon is infuriating. Arrogant. Stab-worthy. We do not get along. At all. But when a stranger attacks me and Daemon literally freezes time with a wave of his hand, well, something… unexpected happens.

If I don’t kill him first, that is.

Don’t get me wrong. I’ve heard great things about this series, but there are already four books in this series and I haven’t started it yet. Not sure if I have the time or money to start it, and if it’s as good as I’ve heard, I won’t want to sit them down and I’ll want to read the whole series….maybe it’s time to get a library card in my new town 😕

Outlander by Diana Gabaldon

I’m a completely sucker for historical romance and this series is one of the best, or so I’ve heard. Like the Lux series though, I’m not sure I have the time or money to start it. Blasphemy, I know, but it’s truth…

The Selection by Kiera Cass

I love a good young adult dystopian, but even after all the hype with the release of the last book in the series, I’m just not sure I want to read it. I mean really, the synopsis reads like a bad reality TV show.

Game of Thrones by George R.R. Martin

I really wanted to read this series, and I even bought the boxed set for my Kindle, yet it’s been sitting there for over a year now. I just can’t seem to get in the mood to read it, which if you follow my reviews you know as well as I do that this is a series I would probably love. I’ve seen bits of the show now though, and I’m afraid it will be ruined if I read them 🙁

The Giver by Lois Lowry

Jonas’ world is perfect. Everything is under control. There is no war or fear or pain. There are no choices. Every person is assigned a role in the Community. When Jonas turns twelve, he is singled out to receive special training from The Giver. The Giver alone holds the memories of the true pain and pleasure of life. With the movie coming out this month, I wanted to read it. But to be completely honest, I was forced to read a small section in high school and it traumatized me. Now every time I pick up the book, I think “Awe man, I don’t want to take a test over this!” Silly I know, I mean I’m nearly thirty but I can’t shake the test anxiety I get every time I sit down and try to read this book.

 

 

The Maze Runner by James Dashner

“If you ain’t scared, you ain’t human.” 

When Thomas wakes up in the lift, the only thing he can remember is his name. He’s surrounded by strangers–boys whose memories are also gone.

Outside the towering stone walls that surround the Glade is a limitless, ever-changing maze. It’s the only way out–and no one’s ever made it through alive.

Then a girl arrives. The first girl ever. And the message she delivers is terrifying.

Again, another book turning movie later this year. I love young adult dystopians…have I said that already 😀 ? Because really I do love them, but I feel like Hollywood is trying to cash out on this craze that’s hit the book world and quite frankly I’m over it. I’m sure I’ll read this book eventually, but right now, it ain’t happening.

Wicked Appetite by Janet Evanovich

Seven Stones of Power

Lizzy can handle the monkey and the cat. She’s not sure about Diesel. He’s offering up his own set of unusual talents and promising to protect her from Grimoire, the kind of protection that Lizzy suspects might involve guarding her body day and night

The Seven Deadly Sins are pride, greed, lust, envy, wrath, sloth, and gluttony. That pretty much covers everything that is wicked. Diesel thinks it also pretty much covers everything that’s fun. And Lizzy thinks Diesel and the Seven Deadly Sins cover everything her mother warned her about.

This series is a spin-off, well sorta spin-off, of the Stephanie Plum series and takes the mysterious character Diesel and puts him in the leading-male role. For some reason, I bought this book when it was released, really excited to read it because I liked the Diesel character. Then I read the synopsis and thought, maybe not.

P.S. I Love You by Cecelia Ahern

A novel about holding on, letting go, and learning to love again.

When Gerry succumbs to a terminal illness and dies, 30-year-old Holly is set adrift, unable to pick up the pieces. The kind of enchanting novel with cross-generational appeal that comes along once in a great while, PS, I Love You is a captivating love letter to the world!

I love this movie! It is one of my favorite chick-flicks and I watch it every chance I get….usually with a box of tissues and lots of chocolate. But I’m not sure I want to read the book. What if, and I mean this is a big if, I like the movie better than the book :O ?

Daughter of Smoke and Bone by Laini Taylor

So this series is getting rave reviews and some of my friends have recommended it to me. But I’m still new to angel mythology books and to be honest they’re just not my favorite, however they are growing on me 🙂

I loved Beautiful Creatures and the synopsis of this book does sound intriguing, but I’m on the fence. It’s another young adult dystopian, which I love, but do I want to read this one? I’m just not sure.

There were many more books I could’ve added to this list, but these are at the top. Maybe I’ll get around to reading them one day, maybe not. One thing is for sure though I will always find something to read 😀
