Fall is in the air in East Tennessee with beautiful weather and temperatures only reaching into the mid-70s all week. I love it! However, I haven’t enjoyed it as much as I usually do. This week marked week two of potty training my little man and well it could be going worse. Liam’s getting it about 70% of the time, but he has an unnatural fear of underwear 😕 Not really sure how to cure that. If you have any suggestions, please comment. I desperately need them! So with all of my time devoted to little man I haven’t read as much as I should. At least that’s what my brain keeps telling me 😛

Maybe he could get to pick his own underwear out? Try a few different styles? I haven’t read any of the same books but, I think that seems normal – there are so many out there!
He did pick them out when I bought them but unfortunately he acts like he’s scared of them when it comes time to wear them 😕 Oh well! We’ll figure it out. A lot of the books I read are indie authors so most of the time people haven’t heard of them, but they are good, some have editing issues, but I overlook it, especially if it’s a good story 🙂
A fear of underwear definitely presents a challenge to potty training! Is he afraid of making a mess if he has an accident? Or just afraid of it being different? If it’s the first one maybe wear underwear with a pull up over it so it doesn’t make a mess but he can still feel it. For the second one maybe start with pull ups and then try the underwear with the built in pads and then switch to regular underwear? Otherwise no ideas but good luck! As my cousin’s pediatrician told her when she despaired of getting her son potty trained – no kid has ever started Kindergarten in diapers.
I think he’s afraid of them because they’re different. He’s so routine oriented and they aren’t apart of his routine so he wants nothing to do with it. The first time we tried them he cried (I took them off) and between sobs he told me “No Mama! No undies. Diaper please! I’m still a baby!” It was all I could do not to laugh at him because he was so serious 😀
Thanks for stopping by!
fangs said what I was going to say. Let him choose his own underwear. Maybe come up with a game to get him to wear them or make a fun song like, put your right foot in… but make up your own words. I wouldn’t rush him. He’ll get there:)
Wonderful book selection. I’m trying to resist going and nabbing a few now that I’m starting to catch up on some reviews.
Here is my Sunday Post – http://fuonlyknew.com/2014/09/21/whats-new-on-my-bookshelf-79-and-the-sunday-post-now-thats-a-lot-of-books/
I’ll have to try a song! He loves to sing 🙂 Reviews are a never ending battle, aren’t they?! Sometimes I find myself bogged down with them and forget all the other great books out there!
I have Winterspell too, but I haven’t read it. Got so many books lined up to read so yeah, let me know how you feel about it if you read it first ♥
