Top Ten Tuesday is an original feature/weekly meme created by The Broke and the Bookish. This feature was created because they are particularly fond of lists at The Broke and the Bookish. They’d love to share their lists with other bookish folks and would LOVE to see your top ten lists!

Today is Tuesday which means I get to make another list 😀 I just Tuesdays! Today’s topic is “Top Ten ALL TIME Favorite Authors…”

Only ten?! Puh-leaze!!!! Like I can write double possibly triple that! But I guess I’ll be a good girl and just do ten contemporary authors 😉 These are no particular order because how could I possibly rank them and names will link to author’s page on the blog (if I’ve reviewed them) or to Goodreads 😀

Top Ten Authors I Adore

Janet Evanovich
rebecca-ethington
laura-thalassa

angela-mcpherson

Janet Evanovich is one of my all-time favorite authors and the author I’ve been reading the longest on this list. I discovered her Stephanie Plum series (aka By The Numbers) when I was in high school and devoured the eight books that were released at that time in about a month. Seriously I binge read, then I kept up with the books as they’ve been released. Despite some bad reviews of her work, I love that her books are simple, hilarious, even a bit predictable. They are a nice break and quick read between some of the heavier books that are out there. Her other series which involves characters from the Plum world is just as good 😀

Rebecca Ethington was a lucky find on my part. In fact where Amazon usually messes up my recommendations this one they got right by recommending I read Through Glass (which is now volume one of her serial series by the same name). It is amazing! So amazing that I went out and bought/read all the books she had released at that time. This girl can write! Her world-building and intricately laid out plots keep me coming for more. If you’ve never read her work, go do so now! Then you can thank me later 😉

Laura Thalassa happened to be a recommendation from an old friend of mine, one who has never steered me wrong when it comes to books. I am so glad that I picked up the book too because I just loved it! Laura’s characters are a bit on the snarky side which is perfect for me since I’m a bit snarky myself. I just love the voice she gives her characters and I’ve yet to read anything of hers I do not like. Now her husband Dan Rix is also a writer and I just picked up some of his work. Who knows? Maybe he’ll make the list next year.

Jen Wylie, I just adore you!! I’ve read everything she’s got and I have to say I love that she keeps her work clean (little to no curse words, no sexual activity, you get the pic 😉 ). This means when she says middle-high school age, it’s appropriate for that age group! No censoring on the parents part with her. And the worlds she creates in her series is fantastic! I Aro and Kei and Prince and their whole world!

Angela McPherson contacted me about this time last year to read one of her novels. She was among the first authors to do so and I was humbled and excited to read her work. Now let me tell you a secret….her characters are amazing!!!! I just love them. She writes such heartfelt characters that you can relate to on every level. They are so realistically created I expect to meet them in public one day. No joke!

sarah-fine
david-estes
stacy-henrie

Sarah Fine is another Amazon got right recommendation 😀 The world-building in addition to the characters is mind-blowing. I love her young adult series Guards of the Shadowland and now her new adult series Servants of Fate. Both are unique and the world she creates in each is so vivid I feel that they are real!

David Estes was a lucky find on my part. I discovered his Dwellers series reviewing in one of my Goodreads groups. Now I can’t get enough of him! His writing is also clean and when it says young adult, he means it 😀 Plus the dystopian worlds he creates are just phenomenal and even believable, which is a bit scary when you think about it! And he’s been busy this last year, releasing six books (I think that’s right) or two complete series. I own them and I need to read them now. I just love his writing!

Veronica Rossi another Amazon got right recommendation, maybe Amazon isn’t as wrong as I think they are 😉 I know this author has only written one series, Under the Never Sky, and honestly if she never writes another thing she will still be on my top ten list. I loved UtNS so much!!! The writing style, the alternate POV, and the world she created is still vivid in my mind even a year later!

Suzanne Collins I loved her Gregor series and then the Hunger Games didn’t disappoint. The characters, the dark dystopian world, and the feels…OMG the feels from these books!!!! They don’t leave you and that to me is the mark of a great author 😀

Stacy Henrie, I had the opportunity to work with Stacy over the last year promoting her Of Love and War series and not only is she an incredibly kind woman, her characters are beautifully written and seamlessly fit into the historical setting of WWII. The characters, their problems, the romance, and the Christian values infused into each story encompass all that I love in historical fiction. She’s one author I won’t soon forget and I’ll be watching for any new books she writes.

What authors make your list? I really want to know! This way I can add more books to my never-ending TBR pile 😉 What can I say? I’m a sucker for a good book 😀

  1. I LOVED The Moon Dwellers by David Estes…one of the best dystopian books I’ve ever read. I couldn’t include him on my list as that’s the only one I’ve read to far! I have the rest of that series to read plus the two new series from this year. So hopefully he’ll be on my next top ten author list!

    • I’m almost finished with Dwellers and the sister series. I think I only h e the last two books left. Like you I have his two newest series I just need to find time to read him. Love him though!

  2. Omg the only author on this list that I’ve actually read was Collins, and I only thought her books were okay. I read them before they got popular too. 😀 I have wanted to read Sarah Fine for a long time but haven’t picked up one of her books yet. 😐 And as popular as Evanovich is, I have never read anything by her either. It seems like she writes so many dang books it’s hard to keep up lmao!

    • Oh you must read By the Numbers series by Evanovich. You will like them I think. It’s about a woman who loses her job and her husband and has to resort to working for her cousin as a bounty hunter. Absolutely hilarious! They’re predictable but in that who cares kinda way because you know going in it’s just a fun read. Love her!!!

    • I also neglected Evanovich for a few years but caught back up last year. Forgot how much I truly enjoyed Stephanie, Morelli, Ranger (yum!), and Lula 🙂

  3. I can’t believe I forgot about Janet Evanovich!?! What is my problem? She ALWAYS makes me laugh. I also didn’t put Suzanne Collins even though I loved the first two Hunger games… I don’t know how I could have forgotten her either. It was hard to only pick 10 authors for this week’s topic.
