So it’s been a while since I last updated you on my progress this year. I think the last time I updated was this Summer maybe?! A lot of exciting things have been happening 😀 For those of you new to the blog, let me catch you up.
At the beginning of the year, I set for myself ten achievable goals: 4 personal, 3 bookish, and 3 blogging. Below I’ve broken them down a little more specifically BUT if you want to see my original goals, check them out in this post! Today I plan to be brutally honest and I have a few promises to fulfill as well. I’m a little nervous but here goes….
Blogging Goals
For those that have forgotten…like me 😀 here’s my goals from the beginning of the year.
- Blog Everyday
- Blog Ahead
- Meet New Friends
So….ummm….I guess I’ve done pretty good on these, at least two of them. Y’all know I’ve had a crap year (more on that in a minute) so I’ve missed a few weeks here and there. BUT I’ve managed to blog just about everyday and I’m averaging 5-8 posts a week. That’s pretty good right? The problem is that I’m not blogging ahead. In fact I might have one or two posts scheduled and that’s it!!! I even joined a blog ahead challenge for October hoping to set myself straight. The goal of that challenge is to blog one post ahead per day so at the end of the month you have a total of 31 posts scheduled….yeah it’s the 15th and I have a grand total of 3!!!
Making new blogging friends though I think I’m doing pretty good with that! I think….
Bookish Goals
These goals were easy. I mean I am a bookworm and all 😉 I started the year with 3 goals and I’ve already met 2 of them!
- Read 100 new-to-me books
- Read The Mortal Instruments and Outlander series
- Make half of my reads this year my one-click/freebie reads.
Scratch that….I’ve met ONE of my goals this year.
I have yet to read The Mortal Instruments which happened to be my Christmas present last year from my husband. He’s now threatening me with no more books til I read it…so yeah, it’s next on the list! I did manage to read the first book in the Outlander series, however it was SO GOOD that I’m actually afraid to continue the series. It’s perfect and I really don’t want to change my opinion if I continue reading the series. Is that crazy?
Now the goal I have met is reading 100 new-to-me books this year. I actually met that in June 😉 My current number of books read this year is 153…that doesn’t include rereads.
Personal Goals
Now to the goals that I’m nervous about sharing. Here’s a recap of my original goals:
- Lose Weight (this was broken down into 4 small, achievable goals)
- Run a 5k
- Try New Foods
- Read the Bible cover to cover
I have only achieved one of these goals. Most of you (if you follow the blog) know that at the beginning of the year I miscarried. This really threw all of my personal goals out the window. It took me really til about mid-year to start these again. By no means am I giving up on them, just extending the deadline a bit 😉
I’ll be completely honest with you, I’ve “ran” once this year. And I probably looked a lot like that guy above. It was brutal! Of course I found out like 2 days later I was pregnant so that MAY have had something to do with it. Now that the weather is starting to cool off I plan to attempt my training for a 5k again. I’m hoping this keeps me accountable.
Trying new foods….yeah I don’t know how to explain my food aversion. I eat like 5 things and that’s it. Just the thought of different foods makes me gag. It’s childish I know and my poor husband has to deal with it, but I don’t know how to get over it. I was trying at the beginning of the year, but a few bites in and I would throw it up. Something about the texture gets me every time, even when I like the taste or smell.
Reading the Bible cover to cover this year was my goal and it still is a goal. Because of the miscarriage and just life in general I haven’t made the time I should have to complete this goal. I’m roughly halfway through at this point, further than I’ve ever made it! I plan to keep going and I WILL finish it, just not by the end of the year.
Now for the moment of truth…my weight loss journey. It has been slow progress this year, what with the miscarriage and all. I started the year losing quite a bit of weight, then I put it back on. I’m proud to say that I officially have met my first goal and am down 40 pounds!!!! That means I’m officially under 200 and I have a promise to fulfill. I promised a before/after pic. When I started this journey I didn’t take an actual before pic so bear with me.
On the left is a picture of me this time last year at my sister-in-law’s wedding. I was 238 pounds, heavier than I’ve ever been, even when I was pregnant with little man. The picture on the right is yesterday. I’m currently holding my weight at 198 pounds! My poor belt has seen better days, I’m in the last notch and I used to be in the first. I’m down, not one, but TWO pant sizes, a shirt size and my girls have lost a cup too. I feel great! It’s taking me a while, but I’m actually only 10 pounds from my next goal of 50 pounds lost which is better than I thought I’d do this year! My final goal is 90 pounds, so I only have 50 more to go. Maybe this time next year my update will be that 😀
Your turn!!
I’m curious. How are you doing on your goals this year? Have you met them, did you give up? Comment below because I want to know and encourage you a long. Because girls (and guys!) if I can do it, SO CAN YOU!!!
