Top Ten Tuesday is an original feature/weekly meme created by The Broke and the Bookish. This feature was created because they are particularly fond of lists at The Broke and the Bookish. They’d love to share their lists with other bookish folks and would LOVE to see your top ten lists!
Happy Tuesday y’all! This week’s topic is “Father’s Day related Freebie.” I’m lucky in that my husband and I share a passion for reading. He reads as much as I do…when he has the time. And that my friends is the problem. He doesn’t have much time to read, neither does my dad and he enjoys to read as much as I do (where did you think I got it from?!). There are many authors/genres out there that cater to men. Here are my top ten authors that I think any man will enjoy:
Ten Authors Any Dad Would Love
Stephen King: If your dad likes horror, then most likely he is familiar with this guy. But King does more than just horror. He writes extremely complex worlds with a whole town of characters. Don’t believe me check out Under the Dome. There’s a index of character names….
Tom Clancy: This is the guy who created Jack Ryan…you know The Hunt for Red October and Patriot Games. If your dad likes military/spy novels, look no further.
Michael Crichton: Jurassic Park, Congo, The Lost World…this is the real deal sci-fi fanatic author. He is so smart that the scientific details are included in the books. Personally I could never get past the lingo and details in Jurassic Park to finish the book but it is one of my hubby’s and dad’s favorites.
Sir Arthur Conan Doyle: the creator of Sherlock Holmes. This is a timeless, classic author that I think everyone should read!
Alexandre Dumas: The Count of Monte Cristo….The Three Musketeers….who doesn’t want to read these?! Classic action, adventure, and even a little daring romance….must read!
James Patterson: The crime expert. His detective series Alex Cross is a must read. You’ve probably heard of it: Along Came a Spider, Pop Goes the Weasel, Roses are Red….
Dan Brown: This author combines fact and fiction seamlessly. I love the historical aspects he adds creating an epic suspense/crime read in his series The Da Vinci Code.
John Grisham: The king of legal thrillers. This author was a lawyer before he hit it big as an author. His books are believable as his own experience and knowledge bleeds into the stories.
Lee Child: Jack Reacher….enough said 😉
Dean Koontz: Another horror king. If you enjoy a good scare or just are looking for a little suspense, turn to this guy.
Which authors would you add to the list? Share below
My Dad loved Westerns, some good old Louis L’Amour…
And my hubby loves Stephen King, so I can definitely concur with that! But he couldn’t get through The Count of Monte Cristo, even though it’s his Grandma’s favourite book. 😛 Great list!
Yeah you either love Dumas or hate him. There isn’t much inbeteeen. The language is formal too which makes it a tough sell. I didn’t even think to add L’Amour. My grandfather loves him.
Totally agree with the choices on your list. I think every dad would like at least one of the authors you chose. I would maybe add Robert Ludlum, especially his Jason Bourne series.

This is a great list. Dean Koontz is my husband’s davourite author. I’d suggest Alex Kava as well as hubby like those books too.

Jessica @ a GREAT read recently posted…Teaser & Top Ten Tuesdays
I’ve been wanting to read a lot of these books myself!
My dad doesn’t tend to read fiction, he loves non-fiction though, especially if it includes conspiracy theories or auto-biographies! 😀
