Happy Tuesday y’all! With the Broke and the Bookish’s TTT still on hiatus, I thought I’d try something new this month. I usually make a list of the books I plan to read during the month. With me being a mood reader, I don’t always stick to that list. Either way, I thought that starting this month I’d share with you all my TBR list for the month AND join in on Michelle @ Because Reading‘s TBR meme and get your input on one of the books I plan to read this month.
This year I’ve been working to catch up on my ARC TBR list. 2015 was a bad year and then 2016 involved a lot of life changes and moving. Slowly I’ve been catching up, but part of staying caught up is trying to read any ARCs I have about a month or so before the book is released. So in August I have 9 books to read for both August and September. Here they are in no particular order:
The Eye of the North by Sinéad O’Hart: This is a middle grade, fantasy/adventure story about a young girl who is kidnapped and taken to the ice fields of Greenland. She then escapes only to find that the mythological Ice Queen wants her for herself. I’m excited to venture into this book. Besides the first few books of Harry Potter, I’ve not read much middle grade, but this sounds right up my alley.
Mask of Shadows by Linsey Miller: Assassin, game to the death….sounds familiar (i.e. Hunger Games, Throne of Glass) but as I love this type of fantasy/dystopia…I’m in 😀
Zero Repeat Forever by GS Prendergast: I first came across this book on a WoW post. I love sci-fi so I was intrigued. Honestly after reading the blurb it sounds like a cross between Terminator and Beauty and the Beast so I’m really excited to read it!
Nyxia by Scott Reintgen: I love scifi…have I said that recently 😉 This particular book is set aboard a space ship leaving Earth. Troubled teens have signed up to basically be slaves (at least that’s my understanding from the blurb) to give their families on Earth a chance at survival. But one teen learns quickly that what they are told isn’t what they signed up for. Sounds intriguing right?!
Odd & True by Cat Winters: A book about sisters who are monster hunters? Please….this is a must read! And just look at the cover ?
We Were Strangers Once by Betsy Carter: I have a soft spot for historical fiction and I particularly enjoy WWII fiction. This is set in 1930s New York and follows a Jewish refugee. I think this will be both heartbreaking and heartwarming all at the same time.
Invictus by Ryan Graudin: This book’s blurb sounds like so much fun. Time travel, a little mystery and if I’m guessing right possibly a little romance. I love Doctor Who and this sounds a little similar without the alien aspect. So we’ll read and see….
The Corner of Forever and Always by Lia Riley: Occasionally I find a contemporary romance author I enjoy. Lia Riley is one of them. This is the second book in the Everland, Georgia series and follows the lawyer’s sister and mayor. I’m excited to read this one.
Nemesis by Anna Banks: I’m so excited to finally get a chance to read this book. It’s been on my TBR for over a year now and I received an ARC just a few weeks ago in prep for the sequel (I’m guessing). I love high fantasy, disappearing into a world where everything is made up and I’ve heard amazing things about this book. It may be my first read in August 😀
Now on to the part I need your help on….
This meme is hosted by Michelle @ Because Reading. On the first Saturday of the month (I know I’m early this month), I’ll pick three books from my massive TBR pile and then you will vote which one I read. Majority vote wins and I’ll post the winner on the second Saturday of the month. Then I will read the book and on the last Saturday of the month I’ll share what I thought about the book you picked for me to read. Fun right 😀 Here are the three books I’d like to read this month:
Thanks for voting! What books are your reading this month? Share below
I went with shadow fall because I really liked the cover, I’m a sucker for space backgrounds!
I went with Shadow Fall because I love the cover like Shaunesay does lol I wanted to do Empire of Storms but I had a hard time with the last book and its a long book! 😉 lol
I picked Shadow Fall too because of the cover haha. It looks like you’ll have a good reading month ahead of you! Good luck and happy reading 🙂
