Top Ten Tuesday is an original feature/weekly meme created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together.
Happy Tuesday y’all! This week’s topic is “Books That Have Been On My TBR the Longest and I Still Haven’t Read.” I am SO guilty of purchasing a book when I want to read it, but for one reason or another I don’t get a chance to start it. So what happens? The book goes into my gigantic TBR stack and is left there until I remember it. Sometimes that’s a long time. Here are my top ten books that have been on my TBR the longest, in no particular order. As always covers/titles link to Blog/Goodreads/Amazon(aff).
The Maze Runner by James Dashner: This has been on my TBR since I read The Hunger Games way back in 2012….almost 6 years. I even own a Kindle copy. I need to make time to do so because I’ve also put off watching the movies until I read them. My husband is getting impatient 😉
Percy Jackson by Rick Riordan: This series has been on my TBR since circa 2009. Many moons ago I worked as a pediatric oncology nurse. One of my patients, this series was his favorite. Every time I’d check on him this is what he was reading. We bonded over our mutual love of books and I promised him I would read this series….I need to keep this promise y’all. I bought a paperback boxed set on sale at Target last year. I now have no excuse to not read them.
Dragonfly in Amber by Diana Gabaldon: So I read Outlander in 2015 and fell in love with the book. I loved it so much that I’m a little afraid to continue the series because I thought it was perfect as is. However I did purchase the series on my Kindle all at one time because in my brain I wanted to binge the series, my heart said no. I’m hoping to continue it this year.
City of Lost Souls by Cassandra Clare: I’m embarrassed at how long this series has been on my TBR. It’s been on my TBR since college and as it’s my 10 year reunion this year that’s a long time. My husband even bought me the complete series three years ago for Christmas. I’m slowly reading them. This is the next one to read for me. Hopefully I’ll get to it soon.
The Iron King by Julie Kagawa: I added this to my TBR in 2014 when I was going through a Fey phase. I really enjoy this type of fantasy and now that I’ve reread the blurb I’m moving it up on my TBR.
Delirium by Lauren Oliver: I added this to my TBR back in 2013 after I read the Matched trilogy. I like these types of dystopias and a little romance goes a long way.
Half-Blood by Jennifer L. Armentrout: So I added this book to my TBR in 2014 way before I was pressured into reading the Lux series. I can’t believe I still haven’t read this one. I love urban mythology. This is going to the top of my TBR pile.
Unenchanted by Chanda Hahn: I had the pleasure of meeting this author at UtopiaCon last year and her series has been on my TBR since 2012. Y’all that’s six years. I really have no excuse to have not read it at this point. I even have two copies now: a kindle copy and a signed paperback.
The Earth Dwellers by David Estes: I love the Dwellers and Country sagas SO much and I cannot believe that I still haven’t read the final book that ties the two series together. It’s been on my TBR since 2014. This is one I’m moving to the top and hoping to read this year.
Frost Like Night by Sara Raasch: After reading Ice Like Fire, I was gun-shy to read the last book in this trilogy. I loved the first and tolerated the second. I need to finish the series though and this has been on my TBR since I read the first book in 2014.
Your turn! What books have been on your TBR the longest? Which of these do you think I should read in 2018? Share below
My sister loves the Outlander books. I hope you will be able to get to them a some point. ☺
Like I said I loved the first one now I’m afraid to continue but I’m going to make it a priority this year 😉
I really loved the Iron Fey series by Julie Kagawa. It made her an auto-read author for me. Anything she puts out, I’ll read.
I’m ashamed to say I haven’t read anything by her yet. Her Talons series is on my TBR as well.
At this point, I`m not sure I`ll finish The Mortal Instruments series. Clary is too annoying! Good luck with your reading!

Dragonfly in Amber had so many great passages and quotes! I discovered a lot of my Outlander quotes are from that installment in the series. I’m still stuck in The Fiery Cross. I have to make my way back to it eventually sp I an move on with the series. Good luck and happy reading!
