Top Ten Tuesday is an original feature/weekly meme created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together.
Happy Tuesday y’all! This week’s topic is “Favorite Book Quotes.” I’ve actually done topics similar to this twice before in 2015: inspiring quotes and favorite quotes. I love book quotes like my husband loves movie quotes. My kindle is full of highlights and notes. I can’t seem to bring myself to mark up a hardback or paperback the same way. So I have a lot of quotes to choose from. With that in mind, I decided to limit myself to my favorite quotes from recent reads. Here they are in no particular order. As always, covers/titles link to Blog/Goodreads/Amazon(aff).
Favorite Book Quotes From My Recent Reads

“Time was never neutral and often felt dangerous. We either think we have all the time in the world or time moves too fast or too slow, a shock can stop time; fear or impending pain can slow it. Time never simply is…And no matter how much you want to hang on to it, time runs out.”
~from The Austen Escape by Katherine Reay
“Sometimes people come into your life and change everything. You become someone you would never have been without them. They crack you open, split you apart, let light into places that have only seen darkness, but it always comes with a price: you cannot go back to who you were before.”
~from Never Apart by Romily Bernard
“How do you fight the darkness? You refuse to let it snuff out your light.”

“Absence doesn’t make the heart grow fonder. Whoever said that was a damn fool. Absence makes the heart suicidal.”
~from Beard Science by Penny Reid
“Most superhero stories start with a meteor shower or a nasty insect bite, but mine actually starts with a kiss. Whether it was a kiss of life or a kiss of death I still haven’t decided, but it was, surprisingly, a really good kiss. Not that I’d ever tell him that.”
~from Being Jamie Baker by Kelly Oram
