Happy Sunday y’all! April flew by for us. What with our new fur baby and gearing up for the end of the school year, I feel like I’ve barely had a chance to catch my breath this month. Darth Vader (our new little pup) is 11 weeks old today and seems to be settling in well. He sleeps through the night most nights, and he’s had few accidents. A few weeks ago I had allergy testing done. The skin test showed nothing, BUT the doctor decided to do a PATCH test because he thought my eczema wasn’t actually eczema but a severe allergic reaction. His gut was right. The patch test showed that I am allergic to cinnamon, fragrance mix (this is a mix of different chemicals used in just about everything. If you go look at the ingredients in your shampoo, deodorant, even your dish soap, you’ll see fragrance listed.), nickel, and gold. Y’all I’m allergic to my wedding rings 😭 Not only that but it seems I’m allergic to just about everything I touch in our house. All our appliances, our cookware, utensils, the knobs on our drawers, the faucets, my candles, shampoo, detergent…..ugh!!!! Needless to say the last few weeks have been a huge adjustment for me. I feel like I need to walk around with gloves on all the time. At the very least, my eczema is already clearing up, and the doctor believes it will be completely healed within 3-6 months. This is huge for me! I’ve had problems with this since I was a little girl. I’m so happy to be able to know that I can do normal things (like fold clothes) without risking getting blood on them from cracked, bleeding hands 😀

Reading wise, April was not a good reading month. I only read 7 books, DNFing two of those. I don’t know if it was the book itself or my mood, either way I wasn’t feeling it. Instead I have been binge watching Poldark on Amazon Prime. I love this show! How did I not know it was a book? I got the first one from the library this week, and I’m hoping to squeeze it in at some point this month.

This Week’s Book Fix

What are you looking forward to in May?

May is looking to be another busy month. Little man is getting ready to finish up the school year. There are two field trips between now and then and a week of testing, plus awards day. It’s going to be busy 😉 BUT I’m really looking forward to him being finished for the year. I’m excited to have him home for the summer. I’m sure the pup will be as well. Reading wise I’m setting my goal low, knowing that I won’t be able to read much. If you want to see what I plan to read this month AND vote for one of the books, you can check it out here: May’18 TBR list.

    • That’s what I keep telling myself too! I honestly don’t remember what it’s like to have hands that don’t ache so I’m excited about that ☺️ Thanks for stopping by!

  1. Wow! That is a lot of allergies but I am so happy to got it all worked out. I would love to do that but I am so scared I would be allergic to something I like. lol I am allergic to cats and I have two but they don’t bother me as much as our Buttons did not sure why.

I hope you have an amazing week, Lillian! Give lots of hugs to Darth Vader for me, he’s so cute! Happy Reading!

    • It’s definitely an adjustment. I look at the ingredients list on everything we buy now 🤦🏼‍♀️ But it will be worth it to not have the eczema patches anymore.
Hope you have a fantastic week Michelle 🙂

    • I’m very pleased with him! After years of dealing with eczema, only two weeks of treatment AND cutting out things that contain my allergens, my hands are nearly healed.
I’m sorry about your arthritis! If it ever bothers you really bad, try either tiger balm or arnica cream. Both work really well ☺️ Thanks for stopping by!

    • It was frustrating! Thinking I had eczema and doing everything I was supposed to do and it still didn’t help. I’m amazed though at how much it’s healed already and it’s only been two weeks ☺️

I’m thinking it’s a mixture of both for me too. The books aren’t wowing me anymore. I think I’m getting burned out to be honest which makes me sad.
