TTT #145 – Villains

Top Ten Tuesday is an original feature/weekly meme created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together

Happy Tuesday y’all! This week’s topic is “Villains (favorite, best, worst, lovable, creepiest, most evil, etc.)” and we are all kinds of excited about it. Well at least I am 😉 I can’t speak for Amanda. I’ve always enjoyed a good villain, the kind that you hate to like and the kind that you really love to hate. Below are our favorite villains in no particular order. As always titles/covers link to blog review/Goodreads/Amazon(aff).

Lillian’s Top Five Favorite Villains

Sain from the Imdalind series by Rebecca Ethington: First if you haven’t read this series yet, I highly recommend you do. You just don’t know what you’re missing 😉 Secondly Sain is one scary dude. Not only do you second guess him throughout the entire series, he plays his part SO well that he blind sided me more than once. Seriously y’all I could say SO much more about him, but SPOILERS……

The Prezedant from the New Bloods Trilogy by Michelle Bryan: This character is the big bad of the series. He is present but not throughout the entire series, and then he gets fully fleshed out and becomes even worse at the end. He’s one of those villains that you don’t know how you feel about him, but you can agree he needs to go down.

Adelina from The Young Elites by Marie Lu: My poor, broken Adelina. While I’ll admit that I still haven’t read The Midnight Star, Adelina’s final book, my heart broke for this character. All while I was highly terrified of her. This was my first time reading the antihero’s story and Lu does it magnificently.

Levana from The Lunar Chronicles by Marissa Meyer: From her first appearance in Cinder, Levana is one scary chick. But reading her story in Fairest left me bereft. I don’t know if want to end her or give the poor girl a hug. All she wanted was someone to love her 😥

The Man in Black from The Unearthly series by Laura Thalassa: No list is complete without the Man in Black. I can’t really say much about him because I don’t want to spoil the series. I can however say that he is one of my favorite characters ever and his progression in Thalassa’s Unearthly series is one of my favorites.

Amanda’s Top Five Favorite Villains

This was actually challenging for me, since I’ve been reading mostly lighter clean romances for years. Usually those villains tend to be “misunderstanding” or “timing”, but these are some creepy evils on my bookshelf. Plus Voldemort. I feel like he’s on everyone’s list though – implied. So this is my list, plus the implicit You-Know-Who.

Your Turn! Who are your favorite villains? Share with us ♥️

    • Oh Greg! I think you’d like The Young Elites. Adelina is a very broken character who I wanted to reach through the pages and protect but couldn’t. It’s a fantastic book 😀
