TTT #154 – My Favorite YA Fantasy Couples

Posted February 12, 2019 by Lillian in Features / 5 Comments

Top Ten Tuesday is an original feature/weekly meme created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together

Happy Tuesday y’all! This week’s topic is appropriate for the upcoming Valentine’s Day holiday: “Favorite Couples In Books.” I did a version of this topic last year listing my favorite couples in contemporary romance, a genre I don’t typically read. It was fun and enlightening, apparently I have a trope I seem to gravitate towards 😉 For this week’s topic, I’m going to focus on my favorite YA fantasy/sci-fi couples. Y’all I read a LOT of YA fantasy, it’s my favorite genre and my go-to. I honestly don’t know if I can limit myself to only 10! As always, the following list is in no particular order and covers/titles link to Blog/Goodreads/Amazon(aff).

Top Ten Favorite Couples in YA Fantasy/Sci-Fi

Aelin and Rowan in Throne of Glass by Sarah J. Maas: It’s a no brainer as to why these two made my list. I love Throne of Glass, it’s conclusion last year left me wanting more and satisfied all at the same time. Rowan is this ethereal fae prince and Aelin is the fire that wakes him up. Literally 😉 I love their relationship and I love even more having picked up on it as a reader before they were ready to admit it.

Alyx and Israel in Dark Angel by Hanna Peach: This is one of the first series I read when I started blogging. It was like my introduction to indie authors. Despite that, Alyx and Israel rank as one of my all-time favorite couples. They find each other over and over again. They bring out the best in each other. #relationshipgoals

Scarlet and Wolf in The Lunar Chronicles by Marissa Meyer: Scarlet and Wolf’s story in the Lunar Chronicles is my favorite of the series. I mean I love Cinder and Kai, but there is something about this story that has always drawn me in. It reminds me more of Beauty and the Beast than Little Red Riding Hood but maybe that’s just me….

Evie and Aric in The Arcana Chronicles by Kresley Cole: Don’t kill me but I’m way behind reading this series (the last one I read was Dead of Winter). Despite that, I am firmly a #TeamDeath girl. I love Aric. When he was first introduced, I wasn’t happy. I loved Jack, even if I hated him to begin with. Aric stole my heart and I’m shipping these two hard.

Gabrielle and Andre in The Unearthly by Laura Thalassa: I’ll admit that I may have had a slight misjudgment later in this series and shipped Gabrielle with Pluto HARD, but I regained my head 😉 I do love the vampire and siren together. AND this story is lush and full of paranormal creatures. It’s like a Hogwarts for the paranormal. LOVE it!

Tara and Jax in the New Bloods Trilogy by Michelle Bryan: I shipped these two from Jax’s first intro to the series. Jax is the cool-head to Tara’s hot-temper. He steadies and grounds her. I couldn’t help but fall for him, even if he was a douche at the beginning.

Mare and Cal in Red Queen by Victoria Aveyard: How could I not love these two? They go through so much throughout the series together that it is hard to not ship them. I haven’t read the final book of the series yet so I don’t know if my ship sails or sinks but I do love them 😉

Po and Katsa in Graceling by Kristin Cashore: I love these two. Po is such an easy character to love. But I think what made me love them most is how they become friends before falling for each other. It’s a slow burn and perfect for these two.

Bella and Edward in Twilight by Stephanie Meyer: Yes I listed them. I can’t help it. I love Bella and Edward….the book version, NOT the movie version. Don’t get me started on the movies. I could write an entire post on everything wrong with the movies 🙄 Despite that, I do love Bella and Edward.

Alyssa and Morpheus in Splintered by A.G. Howard: I shipped these two from the start. I wanted Jeb to go away. I needed more Morpheus at every turn of the page. I loved the trickster. He pushed Alyssa to be better, to be happy no matter the cost. I love him!!!

  1. Ooh nice picks!! I totally forgot to include Evie and Aric! While I constantly went back and forth between the two guys, I always found myself rooting for Aric just a bit more than Jack! Although when it came to Alyssa, I was totally Team Jeb! I don’t know why. Morpheus did something in the first book or so that made me mad and I never forgave him after that! Lol.

    Nice picks all around!

    Here’s my Tuesday Post

    Have a GREAT day!
