Can You Read a Series in a Month – May 2020 Challenge Accepted

Posted May 2, 2020 by Lillian in Challenges / 0 Comments

I adore this challenge! Before I started blogging, binging a series was my favorite thing to do. I’d sit down and read the entire series and then mourn it during an epic book hangover after finishing. The Can You Read a Series in a Month? Challenge is hosted by Berls & Michelle @ Because Reading. The challenge has already begun! It started May 1st at 12am and ends May 31st. As far as I know, you can sign up at any time before the end of the month with a simple declaration on Twitter/Facebook or a blog post. You can read more here.

The Rules

Pick 1 series. Yes, just 1. Announce which series you’ve picked on your sign up post.

Read EVERY book in the series. You don’t have to read novellas or short stories, just the core books.

Read them all between 12am (your time) May 1st and 11:59pm (your time) May 31st. They MUST be marked (on Goodreads) as started and finished in the month of June to count.

Enjoy bragging to everyone about how you’re all caught up on whatever series you read (AKA – have fun)!

My Goal

For this challenge, I’m planning to read Jennifer L. Armentrout’s Dark Elements series. I read Storm and Fury last summer and fell in love with the world and characters which I didn’t realize at the time is a spin off of Dark Elements. Y’all I devoured it in one night. If you enjoy urban fantasy, gargoyle shifters, and demons, I highly recommend it. So my goal for this month is to read the entire Dark Elements series, reread Storm and Fury, and read my advanced copy of Rage and Ruin.

Blurb for The Dark Elements Boxed Set:

#1?New York Times bestselling author Jennifer L. Armentrout draws readers into the extraordinary, irresistible world of Wardens and demons in the New York Times bestselling series The Dark Elements.

WHITE HOT KISS: Book 1

Seventeen-year-old Layla just wants to be normal—fit in at school, and go out on a real date with the gorgeous Zayne. Trouble is, Zayne treats Layla like a sister—and Layla is anything but normal. She’s half demon, half gargoyle, with abilities no one else possesses. And even though Zayne is a gargoyle, Layla’s kiss will kill anything with a soul—including him. Then she meets Roth—a tattooed, sinfully hot demon who claims to know her secrets. Trusting Roth could ruin her chances with Zayne—and brand her a traitor. But as Layla discovers she’s the sole reason for a violent demon uprising, kissing the enemy suddenly pales in comparison to the looming end of the world.

STONE COLD TOUCH: Book 2

Layla Shaw is trying to pick up the pieces of her shattered life—no easy task for a seventeen-year-old. Her impossibly gorgeous best friend, Zayne, is forever off-limits thanks to the mysterious powers of her soul-stealing kiss. The Warden clan that has always protected her is suddenly keeping dangerous secrets. And she can barely think about Roth, the wickedly hot demon prince who understood her in ways no one else could. But sometimes rock bottom is only the beginning. Because suddenly Layla’s powers begin to evolve, and she’s offered a tantalizing taste of what has always been forbidden.

EVERY LAST BREATH: Book 3

Every choice has consequences—but Layla faces tougher choices than most. Light or darkness. Wickedly sexy demon prince Roth, or Zayne, the gorgeous, protective Warden she never thought could be hers. Layla has a new problem, too. A Lilin—the deadliest of demons—has been unleashed, wreaking havoc on those around her…including her best friend. To keep Sam from a fate worse than death, Layla must strike a deal with the enemy while saving her city from destruction. But sometimes, when secrets are everywhere and the truth seems unknowable, you have to listen to your heart, pick a side—and then fight like hell…

Check back the last Saturday of the month to see if I can complete this challenge. You can also follow my progress on Goodreads.
