Another week down – and it was like 17 days long, it seems. I went out in public for the first time in about a month yesterday and I think I forgot how to “public”. It was weird. There was such a weird vibe in the store. We think our governor here in VA is going to issue a mandatory mask order. About half the people I saw were wearing one. I couldn’t breathe through my mask bc it’s too thick and it kept fogging up my glasses, and so far the ones I’ve ordered don’t fit on my big ol’ head. But I had to go into the store BECAUSE…a certain little girl of mine turns 10 today. *cries for like an hour* Okay I’m back. Sorry – she’s just so big now…*cries a little more*…I just can’t believe she’s so grown up. I just gave her her very own schedule – and she loves it. She’s absolutely thriving on autonomy. She’s more productive than I am and even READS more than I do. I assigned her an hour of reading time everyday, which is difficult for her, but she’s out here killing it.
I had to get my big girl a cake and candles, plus they finally had the 5-dozen-pack of eggs (HOORAY!!) (also, yes we’ll eat all those in one week…3 kids, remember? 😅). But the good news is I found a cute chocolate cake. And don’t tell her, although she knows by now, but I got her the illustrated Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone and Wings of Fire: The Dragonet Prophecy graphic novel (which is a YA/children’s series about dragons from a dragon’s pov by Tui T. Sutherland). I’d love to review both of those – definitely Wings of Fire! Unfortunately, the cute outfit I ordered won’t be here for another week. Annoying, but there it is, shipping is weird right now.
The plan is that she gets a birthday breakfast (she asked for crepes) and I make her favorite dinner for her, which is homemade spaghetti and meatballs. We do presents in the morning and cake/ice cream in the evening. She has a hard time with birthdays sometimes (autism-spectrum thing), but I tried to prepare her the best I could so I think she’ll have a good day. If you’d like to leave her a birthday wish in the comment section below, I’ll make sure she gets it! It’s not every day a girl turns 10!
I hope everyone had a good week and that you’re all staying healthy and safe!
Happy Sunday y’all! This week was slow as molasses. Or was it just me 😅 We finished up school by doing a little summer math and summer reading. I’m proud of my little man. He’s worked hard this semester and adapted well to homeschooling. He misses his friends which I’m sure is the case for everyone right now. We’ve tried to make it fun for him though, lots of playing games and movie nights.
Reading wise, I read two books and listened to one audiobook this week. I don’t know about the rest of you but I’m SO behind on my arcs for this month. I’ve got six to read this week that will get me through the next two weeks….wish me luck!

Happy Birthday to your little girl! 10 is a big age! It’s the start of the two-digit age! Lol. Hope she had a GREAT birthday!
Yay for new reads! Some new to me ones though I did read the Trylle series some years back. I liked it. But I don’t think I kept my copies. So it was enjoyable but I really can’t remember them now. That was a few hundred books ago, lol. I hope you both enjoy all of your new reads!

Have a GREAT day!
