Can Fenn and Peree rescue the children of the village from the dreaded Fire Sisters?

Fennel and Peree are finally together and safe from the Scourge in the protected village of Koolkuna. Until the day of their partnering ceremony when the children are stolen away with Fenn's loyal companion, Kora, among them.

Fenn and Peree join a small search party led by Kaiya, the one person who stands a chance of finding the children thanks to her mysterious past. As they travel away from the safe waters of Koolkuna and into the Scourge-infested wilds, Fenn endures Kai's scorn, her subtle designs on Peree, and the squabbling of the group, but nothing in her life has prepared her for the fierce warrior women who will steal others' children to preserve their own existenceโ€”the Fire Sisters.

If Fenn is to survive the threat of the Scourge, save the children from the Sisters, and have a hope of making a life with Peree in Koolkuna, she must face her fear of failure and loss and become the leader she's destined to be.

The Fire Sisters is the final book in the thrilling and romantic Brilliant Darkness fantasy romance series. If you like twisty dystopian and post-apocalyptic page-turners, youโ€™ll love this award-winning series from USA Today bestselling author, A.G. Henley!

It’s been eight years since I read the first two books of the Brilliant Darkness series, and four years since I reread them in anticipation of reading The Fire Sisters, and y’all I can FINALLY say I’ve read it ๐Ÿ™Œ Thank you to Lenore @ Celebrity Readers for letting me buddy read with her (again ๐Ÿ˜‰). I devoured this one in almost one sitting. The Fire Sisters by A.G. Henley is the heart-pounding conclusion to Fenn and Peree’s story. For me, this was almost a decade in the making, and it was everything I could’ve asked for. Picking up exactly where we left off in The Defiance, Fenn and Peree join a group of their people and those of Koolkuna to rescue the children stolen by the rumored Fire Sisters, a warrior tribe of all women who gather children to grow their colony.

Fenn has grown so much in the course of this series, and she is one of my all-time favorite characters. Here, we see her as she struggles with the consequences of her decisions. In her mind, her decisions have cost her the people she loves most: Eland and Aloe. Now as others continue to look to her for leadership, Fenn must decide if she is ready and willing to lead.

The plot of this one is as fast-paced as the previous books in the series. Fenn and Peree along with Bear, Kai, the brothers, and two others from Koolkuna race to follow the trail of the missing children and the Fire Sisters who took them. The journey is perilous, but also eye-opening. For the first time, they are traveling beyond their borders into unknown territory. What they discover along the way is a world full of possibilities.

Overall, I loved every minute of The Fire Sisters. The Brilliant Darkness is one of my all-time favorites. It’s dystopian world, Fenn and Peree along with all the other characters, and the fast-paced plot keep me coming back. My only complaint (and it’s tiny compared to my love for this book) is that I needed more Peree! He is woefully lacking in this installment.

Emily Woo Zeller is back to narrate this final installment, and she is fantastic. Since listening to her the first time in book one, I’ve listened to many other books just because she is the narrator. Her subtle inflections and tone changes help keep the characters separate in my mind and keep me engaged in the story. If you are a fan of dystopians, sweet love stories, or maybe you’re looking for a quick read/listen, I highly recommend it!
