Down the TBR Hole #25

Down the TBR Hole Meme

Down The TBR Hole is a meme originally created by Lia @ Lost in a Story that revolves around cleansing your TBR of all those books you’re never going to read and sort through it all to know what’s actually on there. Lia is no longer blogging, so Jody @ I’m Into Books has taken over. Be sure to join the linky on her site!

Happy Saturday y’all! I’m back after an unexpected hiatus and ready to continue my journey down the TBR hole today. As of writing this post, my current Goodreads TBR shelf has 268 books on it; my physical shelf, my ARC shelf, and Kindle TBR shelf have more than I care to share at this time (mainly because I don’t want to count them). Want to join me?

It works like this:

  • Go to your Goodreads to-read shelf.
  • Order on ascending date added.
  • Take the first 5 (or 10 (or even more!) if you’re feeling adventurous) books. Of course, if you do this weekly (or monthly like me), you start where you left off the last time.
  • Read the blurbs of the books
  • Decide: keep it or should it go?

I will only being doing this once a month, typically the first Saturday. And I’m probably going to do 10 or more each time. I’m starting with my Goodreads TBR. I’d like to leave only books I plan to read on there and remove all the others. I started this journey on a TTT post. You can follow the journey here: Down the TBR Hole.

Between Life and Death by Ann Christy

Like many of the books on my TBR, I do not remember adding this one. However, I can see why it was there. I love zombie, post-apocalyptic dystopian thrillers. And that’s exactly what this book is! Plus, it’s available in Kindle Unlimited, and I’m in the mood….I think I’ve found my #TBRChallenge book for this month 😁

Verdict: STAYS

Beard Necessities by Penny Reid

The Winston Brothers is my favorite series from Penny Reid, however I still haven’t finished it 🫣 When I started down this journey, I removed books from my TBR that are next in series if I haven’t read the previous books. In this case, I’m removing with the intent that it will come back and replacing it with Dr. Strange Beard, the Winston Brother I left off with.

Verdict: REPLACED

The Seventh Sun by Lani Forbes

I do not remember adding this one to my TBR, however the blurb sounds amazing. I love a good fantasy steeped in historical truths. This particular story is based on Aztec and Mayan legends. I also just downloaded it from the library so I know what my next read is….

Verdict: STAYS

Royal Holiday by Jasmine Guillory

I know why this one is on my TBR: it’s a holiday romance featuring royalty 😂 Like that hits all my favorite romance tropes in one book. However, I’m probably not ever going to read this one. Not because I don’t think it will be great, but because there are so many holiday romances that come out every year that if I don’t read it when it’s released, it probably isn’t going to happen.

Verdict: GOES

Hunting Prince Dracula by Kerri Maniscalco

I loved Stalking Jack the Ripper. I’m not really sure why I haven’t read more of the series. I own them all in ebook and hardcover….I’m going to fix that this fall.

Verdict: STAYS

Flamefall by Rosaria Munda

I am currently listening to Fireborne because it’s been a few years since I read it. So I hope to knock this one off my TBR soon. I loved it: Roman politics, a little romance, and DRAGONS 😁

Verdict: STAYS

Forest of Souls by Lori M. Lee

I’m going to be completely honest here: I purposely put off reading this book. I fell in love with Lee’s ability to weave mythology and together with her own story to create engaging and immersive worlds. However, I was let down when the series ended on a cliffhanger and no further books were published. I’m happy to say this series is now finished so I’ll be reading it as soon as I make time.

Verdict: STAYS

Thief by Sylvia Mercedes

A Beauty and the Beast retelling? Do I really need to know more to want to read this one 😁

Verdict: STAYS

The Vampire Debt by Ali Winters

I have a weak spot for vampires. They are my favorite paranormal creature and responsible for bringing me out of the Dark Ages (aka college years when I read nothing for pleasure). And the blurb for this one starts with this:

It is a truth universally acknowledged that a single Vampire in possession of a good fortune, must be in want of a mortal snack.

Need I say more?

Verdict: STAYS

Chosen Ones by Veronica Roth

I have enjoyed all of Veronica Roth’s books to date (even the one that shall not be named 😉), so it is no surprise to find this one on my TBR. I love that it is a story about reluctant heroes and what happens when their job is over…or so they thought.

Verdict: STAYS

  1. I was going to say you were crazy on the Penny Reid book until I realized what you meant by replacing. Love that series so much! Although you do not have to read them in order, it does help to know how everyone before that’s story went. Lots of great books on this list! I’m debating if I should go through my Goodreads list once again and be more cutting.
