Down The TBR Hole is a meme originally created by Lia @ Lost in a Story that revolves around cleansing your TBR of all those books you’re never going to read and sort through it all to know what’s actually on there. Lia is no longer blogging, so Jody @ I’m Into Books has taken over. Be sure to join the linky on her site!
Happy Saturday y’all! Today, I’m continuing my journey down the TBR hole today. As of writing this post, my current Goodreads TBR shelf has 264 books on it; my physical shelf, my ARC shelf, and Kindle TBR shelf have more than I care to share at this time (mainly because I don’t want to count them). Want to join me?
It works like this:
- Go to your Goodreads to-read shelf.
- Order on ascending date added.
- Take the first 5 (or 10 (or even more!) if you’re feeling adventurous) books. Of course, if you do this weekly (or monthly like me), you start where you left off the last time.
- Read the blurbs of the books
- Decide: keep it or should it go?
I will only being doing this once a month, typically the first Saturday. And I’m probably going to do 10 or more each time. I’m starting with my Goodreads TBR. I’d like to leave only books I plan to read on there and remove all the others. I started this journey on a TTT post. You can follow the journey here: Down the TBR Hole.
Helen of Sparta by Amalia Carosella
I’m a sucker for historical fiction….but I have to be in the mood to read it. I purchased this book in 2015 after receiving the second book for review. I’m embarrassed to say I still haven’t read either of them….but I plan to.
Verdict: STAYS
The Bright & the Pale by Jessica Rubinkowski
I’ll admit I was wooed by the cover the first time I saw this book. It made it onto my most anticipated books list in 2021, but somehow I never got my hands on a copy to read. I’d still like to read it one day, BUT it isn’t available at my local library, and I’m trying so hard to be good and read the books I own 😅
Verdict: GOES
Kingdom of the Cursed by Kerri Maniscalco
I really enjoyed book one of this series, and I purposefully put off reading this one until the series was complete and I could binge it. That kinda backfired on me because I forgot to go back and finish it 😅 However, I do have the whole series sitting on my bookshelf waiting for me SO hopefully this is the year 🤞
Verdict: STAYS
The Ippos King by Grace Draven
I really enjoyed the first two books of this series. I did attempt to read this one already, but I think I need to go back and reread the first two because I didn’t remember who these characters were or how they were supposed to be connected. I am still excited to read it though 😉
Verdict: STAYS
Down Comes the Night by Allison Saft
I read Saft for the first time last year and adored her writing style. This one has been on my TBR for a while. I actually have a physical copy lying around somewhere as well as an ebook copy 🫣 I’m planning to bring this one to the top of my TBR.
Verdict: STAYS
One of Us is Next by Karen M. McManus
I devoured the first book in this series, quite literally. I finished it in one day, almost one sitting. I couldn’t tear my eyes away from the drama that unfolded in the book. I thought it was perfect and still do. I immediately added the second book to my TBR, but honestly, I’m not sure how I feel about a sequel. The first was so good, I’m afraid this one will be a let down….
Verdict: GOES
I have to really be in the mood to read a thriller/mystery. Growing up, these were my go to books. But now, I’m more into sci-fi and fantasy. Not saying I’ll never read this one, but the chances are slim. I do own a copy though so I’ll not say never, just not right now.
Verdict: GOES
Black Sun by Rebecca Roanhorse
I can honestly say I have no recollection of this book. That being said, I did read the blurb and can see why I added it to my TBR. I love books like this that are steeped in mythology that’s been interwoven with the story the author wants to tell. I found a copy from my local library and placed a hold. Will be reading soon 😁
Verdict: STAYS
Ozma by Amber R. Duell & Candace Robinson
I really enjoyed the first two books of this series, reading each of them in one sitting. I’m ashamed to say that I lost track of time and completely forgot to follow up and read the last book of the series. I have every intention of doing so asap.
Verdict: STAYS
This book was recommended to me by a friend. Unfortunately, my library doesn’t have it. Regardless, I’m going to keep it on my TBR and who knows, maybe I’ll come across it one day.
Verdict: STAYS

Fascinating. I would keep the ones you let go and let go the ones you kept. lol I love Ruth Ware and Grace Draven. I want to read that next Karen McManus.

I need to read something by Maniscalco! I also should probably go through and start doing this on my list again.

That’s a great idea. Usually I go through my list when I have time to see if I can find the book at the library or KU or Kobo Plus. And then go from there. Mostly I look at my library holds to see how much do I really want to keep this book on hold.
