Down The TBR Hole is a meme originally created by Lia @ Lost in a Story that revolves around cleansing your TBR of all those books you’re never going to read and sort through it all to know what’s actually on there. Lia is no longer blogging, so Jody @ I’m Into Books has taken over. Be sure to join the linky on her site!
Happy Saturday y’all! I’m back and continuing my journey down the TBR hole today. As of writing this post, my current Goodreads TBR shelf has 257 books on it; my physical shelf, my ARC shelf, and Kindle TBR shelf have more than I care to share at this time (mainly because I don’t want to count them). Want to join me?
It works like this:
- Go to your Goodreads to-read shelf.
- Order on ascending date added.
- Take the first 5 (or 10 (or even more!) if you’re feeling adventurous) books. Of course, if you do this weekly (or monthly like me), you start where you left off the last time.
- Read the blurbs of the books
- Decide: keep it or should it go?
I will only being doing this once a month, typically the first Saturday. And I’m probably going to do 10 or more each time. I’m starting with my Goodreads TBR. I’d like to leave only books I plan to read on there and remove all the others. I started this journey on a TTT post. You can follow the journey here: Down the TBR Hole.
The Christmas Confection by Shanna Hatfield
I really enjoyed this series up until the last couple of books. While I do enjoy them, there are so many holiday romances I want to read that I think it is time to say goodbye to this one. I may come back to it later, but it’s been four years since I read the last book, and I have started this one twice 🫣
Verdict: GOES
Undercover Bromance by Lyssa Kay Adams
I loved the first book of this series more than I thought I would. I enjoyed it so much that I bought the whole series in paperback. I think it’s time to make a concerted effort to read the rest.
Verdict: STAYS
My most anticipated release this year and now that it is out, I’m moving it to the top of my TBR. I absolutely loved Spice Road and cannot wait to find out what happens next in the series. Highly recommend it!
Verdict: STAYS
Four Found Dead by Natalie D. Richards
I’m not really sure how this one ended up on my TBR. I don’t read many thrillers. In fact, the only time I do is if I’m in the mood which strikes about once every five years 😂 For my thriller fans, the blurb sounds good….just not for me.
Verdict: GOES
While it is true I do not read much YA contemporary, I have fallen in love with West’s writing. I have yet to read one of her books I haven’t enjoyed. So this one stays and hopefully I can get to it asap.
Verdict: STAYS
The Seven Year Slip by Ashley Poston
This is another author that has become an auto-read for me. I love her writing. I have not read her adult romances yet, but I do own them and hope to get to them soon-ish 😁
Verdict: STAYS
The Mirror of Beasts by Alexandra Bracken
I really enjoyed Silver in the Bone, the first book in this duology. Now that book two is out and my copy finally arrived, I’m looking forward to diving in to it….as soon as I find some time.
Verdict: STAYS
Realm of Wonders by Alexandra Monir
I’ve really enjoyed this series that continues the Disney princesses’ stories now that they are queens. Aladdin is one of my favorite movies, so I’ve been hesitant to start this one. No excuse…I plan to read it soon.
Verdict: STAYS
Fate Breaker by Victoria Aveyard
This is another series that I have really enjoyed, but I’ve put off reading the final book. In fact, I have yet to finish an Aveyard series 🫣 I’m afraid too. I know that makes no logical sense, but it’s true. Plus for this one, I’d like to reread books one and two before diving in.
Verdict: STAYS
Shattered Kingdom by Angelina J. Steffort
I’m not gonna lie…I’m on the fence for this one. This is the first of a 7-book series. Now that doesn’t really scare me. I also believe it is finished now so I could binge it. Plus it is in my preferred genre. I just don’t know when I’ll have the time….for now, I’m going to keep it with the caveat I may never get to read it.
Verdict: STAYS

Undercover Bromance was my favorite book in that series.

That’s good to hear! I’ve got the whole series sitting on my shelves. I think I’ll read them throughout the year next year. I really enjoyed the first one.
I have loved the Bromance series, and also Seven Year Slip. I read the Four Found Dead and it was only okay, so you’re probably good to toss it. As for the Kasie West one, I wanted to love it, because dogs, but it just kind of bored me unfortunately. I really need to do some of this purging again myself.

Oh that makes me sad about the West book. She’s a newer favorite of mine, and I don’t typically read YA contemporary 😂
I’ve read Four Found Dead – don’t.
It was one of the most annoying audiobooks I’ve ever listened to.
