Forbidden romance, mysterious prophecies, and the battle to save the fae realm come to a captivating conclusion in the #1 New York Times bestselling saga begun with Abriella in the These Hollow Vows duology and continued with Jas and Felicity in Beneath These Cursed Stars.

Princess Jasalyn has eleven days to live.

Jasalyn is facing the repercussions of a deadly bargain. Her life, and the future of the shadow court, are forfeit on her birthday unless she can stop the evil fae king Mordeus. She needs to face her greatest fears and find him before she runs out of time, but even after everything, Kendrick won’t let her face this alone.

Shape-shifter Felicity has vanished.

Felicity disappeared from King Misha’s dungeons, and her friends have been searching for her to no avail. But even if she’s found, Felicity will never be able to escape the oracle’s tragic prophecy for her and her family. In her lonely battle with fate, Misha is the last person she can ask to stand by her side, but the first one she’ll need.

I really, really wanted to love this book, but it was just meh. Between These Broken Hearts by Lexi Ryan is the conclusion to Beneath These Cursed Stars. If you haven’t read it or These Hollow Vows, there may be spoilers for them ahead. Read at your own risk. Picking up where book one left off, Princess Jasalyn has only eleven days left to live. Facing the consequences of her bargain, Jas is realizing she wants to live and has every reason to embrace the Fae powers she’s been afraid of. Jas’s doppelgänger, the shape-shifter Felicity, is missing. Taken from Misha’s dungeons, Felicity is now living a life that she never had, one she would have liked to know. Her only chance at survival and saving the brother she loves will come from asking for help from Misha, the last person she believes willing to give it.

Jas has grown a lot in these two books, but also remained stagnant. She knows the bargain she made, and instead of facing it head on, she’s been looking for a way out of it. While looking, she’s losing time and pushing those who are willing to help and love her away. I have little patience for drama, especially when the drama comes from immaturity. In book one, I was sympathetic to her plight. I understood what had happened to her. I even understood her anger and need for vengeance. However, those linger in this book and became a hindrance to the story at large.

Felicity, on the other hand, I could read about all day long. I loved her chapters and storyline so much. She was a breath of fresh air in this story. I can’t really say too much about what happens to her or where she is because

But I can say it is worth reading the book for. I love the relationship she developed with Misha in the first book and seeing how her betrayal affects that here. It makes for exciting reading.

This book is a nice blend of character/plot driven storylines. While I lamented to read Jas’s chapters, I loved Felicity’s story. I also enjoyed that the plot has finally converged, and the characters are mostly working together toward the same goal. It’s fast-paced and full of dangerous twists. At the risk of sounding cliche, I didn’t know I was holding my breath until I was gasping for it 😅

Overall, there were aspects I enjoyed and parts I could have done without. As a result, I’d give Between These Broken Hearts three and a half stars, maybe four because the ending was perfect. If you are a fan of the series or a fan of YA fantasy romance, I recommend it.
