One of my all-time favorite stories is E.T.A. Hoffman’s 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘕𝘶𝘵𝘤𝘳𝘢𝘤𝘬𝘦𝘳 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘔𝘰𝘶𝘴𝘦 𝘒𝘪𝘯𝘨 so it should come as no surprise that I read all the retellings I come across. @kaylmoody’s 𝘕𝘶𝘵𝘤𝘳𝘢𝘤𝘬𝘦𝘳 𝘰𝘧 𝘊𝘳𝘺𝘴𝘵𝘢𝘭𝘧𝘢𝘭𝘭 is a loose fantasy retelling set in the same world as her Fae and Crystal Thorn series. While I haven’t personally read it, I had no trouble delving into this world and falling completely in love with it. Fans of fantasy, Fae, and adventure will delight in this holiday novella.

Happy Monday y’all! It’s been a while since I checked in on Instagram, so I thought I’d just dive right in this week.

I’m currently reading 𝘉𝘭𝘢𝘮𝘦 𝘐𝘵 𝘰𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘔𝘪𝘴𝘵𝘭𝘦𝘵𝘰𝘦 by @beth_garrod. It was our #coyerchallenge young adult #bookclub pick for December. We met yesterday to discuss, but I’m not quite finished yet. So far it reminds me of a YA version of 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘏𝘰𝘭𝘪𝘥𝘢𝘺 with Kate Winslet and Cameron Diaz. It’s an easy, fun read!

Happy Friday y'all! This is one of my favorite books so far this year. THE BALLAD OF NEVER AFTER by @stephanie_garber picks up almost immediately where the first left off. Evangeline is back and so is Jacks. Jacks is a much more active character in this book than he is in the first, and you will not hear me complain about that. Give me all the Jacks 😂 The ending though.....y'all it killed me, BUT I am so thankful we are getting a third book. It is needed! ★★★★★

Happy Thursday y'all! Back in August I decided to reread the Caraval series by @stephanie_garber, and it was the best decision I made that month 😉 I took my time in the reread, and then dived right into Jack's story.

ONCE UPON A BROKEN HEART is fast-paced, lyrical and brilliant. I devoured this one, alternating between listening and reading my hardcover. Evangeline is a fun character to live through. Her experiences and heart break drive the plot. I found myself unable to put the book down, and when life forced me to do just that, I spent my time thinking about her, Jacks, and the Magnificent North. ★★★★★

Happy Tuesday y’all! I’m finishing up 𝘐𝘳𝘰𝘯 𝘞𝘪𝘥𝘰𝘸 by Xiran Jay Zhao, performed by Rong Fu today, and I couldn’t wait to share a few thoughts.

🔥 The narration is fantastic! Fu really brings the characters to life, infusing emotions throughout the story.
🔥 Action….so much action and adventure in this sci-fantasy. There are these metal creatures that are controlled by the captain’s chi, blending 𝘗𝘢𝘤𝘪𝘧𝘪𝘤 𝘙𝘪𝘮 with Chinese and Asian mythology, and they are at war, which means we get to see these beasts in action throughout the story.
🔥 A little taste of romance coupled with jealousy and revenge. I liked both love interests and am curious to see how it plays out through the series.
