Mom - Waiting on Wed

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that we are all eagerly anticipating.

About this time last year I read The Witch Hunter by debut author Virginia Boecker. I was on the fence before I picked it up but after just the first line of the book I was hooked. Now there’s a little over a month left till the sequel The King Slayer hits shelves and I’m bouncing on my toes in anticipation. I cannot wait to continue this series! The author created a haunting, alternative history for England and I’m so excited to see what will happen next.

Length: 368 pages

An action-packed and suspenseful sequel to The Witch Hunter, perfect for fans of Graveling and the Grisha Trilogy.

"I think, in time, you'll either be my greatest mistake or my greatest victory."

Former witch hunter Elizabeth Grey is hiding within the magically protected village of Harrow, evading the price put on her head by Lord Blackwell, the usurper king of Anglia. Their last encounter left Blackwell ruined, but his thirst for power grows stronger every day. He's readying for a war against those who would resist his rule--namely Elizabeth and the witches and wizards she now calls her allies.

Having lost her stigma, a magical source of protection and healing, Elizabeth's strength is tested both physically and emotionally. War always means sacrifice, and as the lines between good and evil blur once more, Elizabeth must decide just how far she'll go to save those she loves.

About Virginia Boecker

Virginia Boecker recently spent four years in London obsessing over English medieval history, which formed the basis of her debut novel, The Witch Hunter. She now lives in the Bay Area, California with her husband and spends her days writing, reading, running, and chasing around her two children and a dog named George.

In addition to English kings, nine-day queens, and Protestant princesses, her other obsessions include The Smiths, art museums, champagne, and Chapstick.

What are you not-so-patiently waiting on this Wednesday?

  1. I’m eagerly waiting for the next Peter Grant novel ‘The Hanging Tree’ by Ben Aaronovitch. It comes in in June *sigh* Meantime, I have a teetering pile to get through, so while I’m waiting, I’m not exactly twiddling my fingers…
