Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly event originally created and hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine that spotlights upcoming releases that we are all eagerly anticipating. Jill has been MIA since August of 2016. Despite this, the meme lives on….Hope you come back Jill! Until then I will be joining Tressa at Wishful Endings and her meme Can’t-Wait Wednesday.
This week I’m anxiously waiting on Children of Blood and Bone by debut author Tomi Adeyemi. First just look at that gorgeous cover, then read the blurb. I’ll wait…..are you excited now?! I love a good fantasy, with intrigue and rumors of war, hints of romance, and a strong lead character. The book doesn’t come out til March, and the early reviews are fantastic, so good in fact that a movie is already in the works. I cannot wait to get lost in this book!
Children of Blood and Bone by Tomi Adeyemi
Series: Legacy of Orïsha #1
Published by Henry Holt and Co. on 2018-03-06
Length: 448 pages
Zélie Adebola remembers when the soil of Orïsha hummed with magic. Burners ignited flames, Tiders beckoned waves, and Zelie’s Reaper mother summoned forth souls.
But everything changed the night magic disappeared. Under the orders of a ruthless king, maji were targeted and killed, leaving Zélie without a mother and her people without hope.
Now, Zélie has one chance to bring back magic and strike against the monarchy. With the help of a rogue princess, Zélie must outwit and outrun the crown prince, who is hell-bent on eradicating magic for good.
Danger lurks in Orïsha, where snow leoponaires prowl and vengeful spirits wait in the waters. Yet the greatest danger may be Zélie herself as she struggles to control her powers—and her growing feelings for the enemy.
