Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly event originally created and hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine that spotlights upcoming releases that we are all eagerly anticipating. Jill has been MIA since August of 2016. Despite this, the meme lives on….Hope you come back Jill! Until then I will be joining Tressa at Wishful Endings and her meme Can’t-Wait Wednesday.
Happy Wednesday y’all! It’s been a few weeks since I’ve participated. March was a bit crazy 😉 This week I’m excitedly waiting on My Plain Jane by Cynthia Hand, Jodi Meadows, Brodi Ashton. I LOVED My Lady Jane! It was the perfect combination of history, satire, and romance. So when I first heard the authors were getting back together for not one but at least two more books, I was excited. Now with a cover, a title, and leading lady, I really can’t wait! I enjoyed the classic Jane Eyre when I read it in high school and again when I read in college. It’s one of the only books I was forced to read that I enjoyed. (Not true…I love the classics!) I’m curious to see what spin the ladies put on this Jane. 😀
My Plain Jane by Cynthia Hand, Jodi Meadows, Brodi Ashton
Series: The Lady Janies #2
Published by HarperTEEN on 2018-06-26
Length: 464 pages
You may think you know the story. After a miserable childhood, penniless orphan Jane Eyre embarks on a new life as a governess at Thornfield Hall. There, she meets one dark, brooding Mr. Rochester. Despite their significant age gap (!) and his uneven temper (!!), they fall in love—and, Reader, she marries him. (!!!)
Or does she?
Prepare for an adventure of Gothic proportions, in which all is not as it seems, a certain gentleman is hiding more than skeletons in his closets, and one orphan Jane Eyre, aspiring author Charlotte Brontë, and supernatural investigator Alexander Blackwood are about to be drawn together on the most epic ghost hunt this side of Wuthering Heights.

I haven’t started this series yet, but it looks like so much fun! And I do love Jane Eyre!

If you enjoy a good laugh, I highly recommend My Lady Jane. It’s hilarious, not very historically accurate, but funny 😀
This looks like such a fun read, I’ll definitely be checking this one out!
If it’s anything like My Lady Jane was, it will be 😀
I was lucky enough to get an e-ARC of this and I really enjoyed it! It was such a fun read. Great pick!
My WoW!
That’s awesome to hear! I can’t wait to start it 😀
I haven’t read My Lady Jane but I think I would either totally adore it or not be into it. I do want to give it a shot, though!
I was concerned because I like historical fiction. However their twists are creative and meant as satire so it’s a fun read 😀
This is possibly my most anticipated book of the year!
Mine too 😀
I can’t believe I’m so excited for this one when I’ve yet to read the first. Great choice!

It’s excitement worthy 😉 The first is fantastic! Hope you get a chance to read it soon.
That sounds great. I know I might have read an elder version of this novel, but something old in a modern gown, why not? I am for sure curious now. Thanks for sharing, I fear my wishlist just grew a bit *sigh*
Best wishes

Nice pick! I know a lot of people loved the first one from these authors. Not really my kind of read but I hope you thoroughly enjoy this one as much as you did the first, if not more! 😉
