Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that we are all eagerly anticipating.
I came across today’s pick for WOW on one of the egalley websites and upon seeing the cover knew I had to read it. I LOVE books set in the Roman time period. Then I read the synopsis 😀 Not only is this book told from a Roman soldier’s perspective, it follows the story of Christ through a Gentile’s eyes. I’m SO excited for this book and even more excited that I received for review. I can’t wait to share it with you all 😀
Maximus on 2015-03-03Length: 464 pages
Reviewing eARC
Maximus has never known peace. In command of one of Rome's finest legions, he and his closest friend, Androcles, have fought side by side to uphold the glory of the empire.
But at the end of a long and bloody campaign, Maximus begins to question his purpose, his past, and the gods he has been taught to believe in.
When word reaches Rome of a man named Jesus who is causing a stir in faraway Judaea, Maximus and Androcles are sent, disguised as Jews, to ascertain the truth of the situation: Is this Jesus merely a radical preacher, or is he instigating a revolution against Rome?
As Maximus immerses himself in Jewish culture, he must confront questions that could change his life: Is it possible this carpenter from Nazareth is the Son of God? Is it possible for a man of war to live a life of peace?
What are you not-so-patiently waiting on this Wednesday?

Not really what I typically dig from my literature, but it does sound like something I’d like to watch! Like a History special or something 🙂

I tend to fall in love with all historical fiction. I don’t read it often but I’ve yet to find one I didn’t like 🙂
