Merry Mondays

Merry Mondays is a weekly meme hosted here @ Mom With a Reading Problem during the month of December to celebrate Christmas and the holiday season. Each week a different topic centered around the holidays will be discussed.

Merry Monday everyone! Only 18 days left til Christmas 😀 I finished my holiday shopping last week so now I’m just enjoying the season. Listening to music, reading some holiday books, drinking my hot chocolate…these are all the things I enjoy about this time of year. This week’s topic is “Favorite Holiday Traditions.” I’ll be honest I didn’t think I really had any traditions until I talked to my husband about it and then he reminded me of the one thing we do every year and that my friends involves are decorating choices 😉

Deck the Halls With Boughs of Holly

When I was a little girl, my godmother started buying the Hallmark Puppy Love ornaments for me. She started from the first year they were made, and every Thanksgiving she would give me a new puppy ornament for our tree. When she passed, my mom kept up the tradition. And now 25 years later I still buy them! They are super adorable!!! Each year features a different breed getting into some kind of holiday trouble. My favorite is a black lab tangled in Christmas lights 😀 And yes I have all 25 puppies on our tree. Here’s this years:

When my husband and I got married *cough* ten years ago *cough*, I wanted to commemorate our first Christmas together by starting a new series. Of course we couldn’t agree on one, so we each picked a series that started the year we got married. My husband picked this adorable Noelville series which is a gingerbread house village, each year is a different shop in the village. I picked a Christmas Angels series, each angel had a different color scheme and Christmas flower to represent what they were. The angels ended a few years ago and the houses end this year. I guess we’ll be starting a new series next year 😉

The year my son was born we did the same thing. We picked a series to start on our tree and I tried to find a series that he would like when he was older. It’s a cookie cutter with a Christmas scene on the inside, featuring these cute little mice 😀

So I don’t know if ornaments for our tree actually count as traditions, but it is the one thing we do every year without fail 😀

Your Turn! What are your favorite holiday traditions?
