Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that we are all eagerly anticipating.
This week I’m waiting on Assassin’s Heart by Sarah Ahiers. The title and cover alone hooked me, but then I read this little snippet: “With shades of The Godfather and Romeo and Juliet.” Umm…sign me up please 😀 I cannot wait to read this debut novel! It sounds intricate and detailed with lots of plot twists.
Assassin's Heart by Sarah AhiersPublished by HarperTEEN on 2016-02-02
Length: 400 pages
In the kingdom of Lovero, nine rival Families of assassins lawfully kill people for a price. As a highly skilled member of one of these powerful clans, seventeen-year-old Lea Saldana has always trusted in the strength of her Family. Until she awakens to find them murdered and her home in flames. The Da Vias, the Saldanas’ biggest enemy, must be responsible—and Lea should have seen it coming. But her secret relationship with the Da Vias’ son, Val, has clouded her otherwise killer instinct—and given the Da Vias more reason than ever to take her Family down.
Racked with guilt and shattered over Val’s probable betrayal, Lea sets out to even the score, with her heart set on retaliation and only one thought clear in her mind: make the Da Vias pay.
With shades of The Godfather and Romeo and Juliet, this richly imagined fantasy from debut author Sarah Ahiers is a story of love, lies, and the ultimate vengeance.
What are you not-so-patiently waiting on this Wednesday?
I have this on my Kindle to read, and I seriously can’t wait to read it as well! Great pick 😀

This is a really popular choice this week. I have been intrigued by it since I first saw its cover a month or so ago. I have really been in a fantasy mood lately. Hope we both love it!

I had the chance to read this one – I got an ARC in the mail and it is SO GOOD. I am not usually a fantasy reader at all but this book had really cool world building. I was impressed. I hope you get a chance to read it soon!

This one sounds very intense and a bit frightening, too. The kind of book that you can curl up with for hours….thanks for sharing. Here’s mine: “THE OPPOSITE OF EVERYONE”

I thought this book was pretty good! My expectations were also a tad bit high, but 3.5 stars isn’t bad, right? I hope you enjoy this book when you read it!
Happy holidays. 🙂
