Mom - Waiting on Wed

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that we are all eagerly anticipating.

This week I’m waiting on Frost Like Night by Sara Raasch. I’ll be the first to admit to you that I was disappointed in Ice Like Fire. It just didn’t live up to its predecessor and suffered from second-book syndrome. HOWEVER it set up the story nicely for the finale of this series. I CANNOT wait to see Meira as the true queen of Winter and Mather finally confess his feelings. I’m on the edge of my seat. Hopefully it will live up to my high expectations 😀

Length: 496 pages

Angra is alive, his Decay is spreading—and no one is safe.

Meira will do anything to save her world. With Angra trying to break through her mental defenses, she desperately needs to learn to control her own magic—so when the leader of a mysterious Order from Paisly offers to teach her, she jumps at the chance. But the true solution to stopping the Decay lies in a labyrinth deep beneath the Season Kingdoms. To defeat Angra, Meira will have to enter the labyrinth, destroy the very magic she’s learning to control—and make the biggest sacrifice of all.

Mather will do anything to save his queen. He needs to rally the Children of the Thaw, find Meira—and finally tell her how he really feels. But with a plan of attack that leaves no kingdom unscathed and a major betrayal within their ranks, winning the war—and protecting Meira—slips farther and farther out of reach.

Ceridwen will do anything to save her people. Angra had her brother killed, stole her kingdom, and made her a prisoner. But when she’s freed by an unexpected ally who reveals a shocking truth behind Summer’s slave trade, Ceridwen must take action to save her true love and her kingdom, even if it costs her what little she has left.

As Angra unleashes the Decay on the world, Meira, Mather, and Ceridwen must bring the kingdoms of Primoria together…or lose everything.

About Sara Raasch

Author Sara Raasch

Sara Raasch has known she was destined for bookish things since the age of five, when her friends had a lemonade stand and she tagged along to sell her hand-drawn picture books too. Not much has changed since then — her friends still cock concerned eyebrows when she attempts to draw things and her enthusiasm for the written word still drives her to extreme measures.

She is the New York Times bestselling author of the teen fantasy trilogy SNOW LIKE ASHES, the fantasy duology STREAM RAIDERS, the fantasy duology SET FIRE TO THE GODS cowritten with Kristen Simmons, and the historical romantasy duology WITCH AND HUNTER cowritten with Beth Revis.

Up next: A SWORD IN SLUMBER out 9/3/24 from Disney, and THE NIGHTMARE BEFORE KISSMAS, her adult romcom debut, out Fall '24 with Bramble/Tor.

None of her books feature her hand-drawn pictures.

  1. I actually still have Ice Like Fire on my kindle waiting for me!! I have so many books on there waiting that it just keeps getting bumped down!! But I will read it real soon!!!!

  2. I’m so looking forward to this!! I was ordering the second book Ice like fire and it seemed like this one was out already too. I was so disappointed when it turned out to be a pre-order. I’m too impatient for series, I prefer to marathon them haha.

    • I think it will. The second book’s plot dragged a bit but then the ending more than made up for its slow pace. Now I’m eager to get my hands on this one.

  3. Eeee I LOVED Snow like Ashes. I haven’t gotten around to reading Ice Like Fire just yet but I’m hoping to get to it this summer once I get through some of the many books I’ve already bought but haven’t read.

  4. Woah, I didn’t realize that the third book in this series is set to release this year! I guess I better get my butt in gear and pick up the first book finally. It’s too bad the second book was a let down for you, but here’s hoping the author delivers in this finale!!

    • I think she will. The second book’s plot had a slow pace until the end and then I was like “That can’t be it!!” Flipping pages trying to find more. Lol. At least this way you won’t have to deal with that cliffhanger 😀

  6. I was also a little bit disappointed in Ice Like Fire. I’d hoped for more. But I cannot wait to read this, cause I think it will be amazing. 🙂 I hope we’ll both love it. Thanks for sharing, and for stopping by my WoW earlier. 🙂

  7. I still haven’t read the first book in this series, but it’s on my TBR list (with a billion other books, lol). Hopefully I can get to it soon. I hope you enjoy this one when you read it! Thanks for visiting my blog!

  8. This is a TERRIFIC pick!!! A HUGE WOW!!! I’ve been wanting to read this series since the first book came out, but haven’t gotten around to it. Well, maybe after this one is released, I can read them all back to back! I’ll add this one to my Goodreads shelves right away! Thanks for the heads up!! 🙂

Also, thanks for dropping by and commenting on my own WOW!! 🙂

  9. So much YES to this choice! I have only read the first book in the series. I absolutely adored it and I am certain that all of the books are going to be just as incredible. I hope that you enjoy it! 🙂
