Mom-Top Ten

Top Ten Tuesday is an original feature/weekly meme created by The Broke and the Bookish. This feature was created because they are particularly fond of lists at The Broke and the Bookish. They’d love to share their lists with other bookish folks and would LOVE to see your top ten lists!

Happy Tuesday y’all! This week’s topic is a freebie so I decided to go through the older topics and found one from 2013, prior to starting the blog that I wanted to have fun with. The topic was “Top Ten Endings That Left Me With My Mouth Hanging Open.” There have been several books recently that left me feeling mind-blown. So here are my top ten books that left my jaw on the floor and that I may or may not have thrown my Kindle/book down upon finishing 😉 As always these are in no particular order, covers link to Amazon (affiliate)/Goodreads, title links to review. PS…I’ll do my absolute best to NOT spoil the books 😀

Top Ten Mind-Blowing Endings

Book Cover for "Saven: Disclosure" by Siobhan DavisBook Cover for "The Gender Game" by Bella Forrest

Saven: Disclosure by Siobhan DavisDuring the last chapter of this book, I was completely lost! I couldn’t help wondering if I was even reading the same book. A switch flipped and all heck broke loose. Even now, after reading the rest of the series, this one still shocks me!

The Gender Game by Bella Forrest: The ending to this one I didn’t see coming at all. I just had this foreboding feeling during the last few chapters and then the ending happened! It was such a shocker and SO good that I bought the rest of the series and am currently reading it 😀

The Dark King by CJ AbediI may have tossed my poor Kindle at the ending of this one. The series is amazing and you root for the characters and just when you think they are in the clear, the author throws a wrench in the plans and you are left with a massive cliffhanger.

The Queen of Traitors by Laura ThalassaWhile this ending shocked me, I couldn’t help but shake my head. Does Montes never learn?! He should have known better….but it’s all good. It comes back to bite him in the rear in the third book 😉

Book Cover for "Strain of Resistance" by Michelle BryanBook Cover for "The Winner's Crime" by Marie Rutkoski

Strain of Resistance by Michelle BryanThis book is one shock after another, but that ending….OMG!!!! I think I may have died. It ends appropriately, setting up the next series and I think “Yay! No cliffhanger….oh wait there’s more….” Yeah that epilogue is killer peeps!

The Winner’s Crime by Marie RutkoskiUsually I’m not much of a fan for the second books in trilogies. Usually they are bridge books setting up the ending with not much happening. This one was a pleasant surprise. I loved it! But that ending had me in tears. Kestrel and Arin and then all the spying….it was too much! And did I mention the ending?!

Broken Prince by Erin WattThis whole series is one shock after another, but the ending to the second book had me scraping my jaw off the floor. It was an awful ending!!!! Especially since I had to anxiously wait to find out what was going to happen to the characters.

Book Cover for "Curse of the Sphinx" by Raye WagnerBook Cover for "Paper Dolls" by Hanna PeachBook Cover for Dead of Winter by Kresley Cole

Curse of the Sphinx by Raye WagnerDramatic irony at its finest peeps. We knew the ending. We knew, we were screaming in our heads at Hope. Athan was a mystery and his background even more so but I was still screaming at Hope and then I was like maybe not and then I was screaming at her again. That ending….Even though I immediately picked up book two, it was killer.

Paper Dolls by Hanna PeachThis author is the queen of romantic suspense. I had no clue what was coming at the end of this book. I had guessed different scenarios for how the book was going to play out and I was wrong on all counts. Seriously I can say nothing about this book other than you HAVE to read it.

Dead of Winter by Kresley ColeEvery book in the Arcana Chronicles has ended with a massive cliffhanger. BUT this one slayed me. I was so shocked. I was listening to the book on a road trip. I stopped the recording and rewound it several times to be sure I heard the ending correctly. I’m still reeling….I really need to read book 4!!!

I had to read that one as soon as I was able…which granted was nearly immediately after I accepted a review copy! LOL! It was sooo good, but agh!!! That ending just about killed me too! LOL!
