Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that we are all eagerly anticipating.
This week I’m eagerly waiting on Etched in Bone by Anne Bishop, the last book in The Others. I’m excited and sad about this. I didn’t start reading the series until last year and devoured the first four books in quick succession. I’m ready for the next one but I’m not ready for it to end. I love these characters and the urban, paranormal world the author has created. The characters are so realistic in their actions and instincts. I particularly am fond of the wolves and their Meg.
Etched in Bone by Anne BishopSeries: The Others #5
Published by ROC on 2017-03-07
Length: 416 pages
New York Times bestselling author Anne Bishop returns to her world of the Others, as humans struggle to survive in the shadow of shapeshifters and vampires far more powerful than themselves…
After a human uprising was brutally put down by the Elders—a primitive and lethal form of the Others—the few cities left under human control are far-flung. And the people within them now know to fear the no-man’s-land beyond their borders—and the darkness…
As some communities struggle to rebuild, Lakeside Courtyard has emerged relatively unscathed, though Simon Wolfgard, its wolf shifter leader, and blood prophet Meg Corbyn must work with the human pack to maintain the fragile peace. But all their efforts are threatened when Lieutenant Montgomery’s shady brother arrives, looking for a free ride and easy pickings.
With the humans on guard against one of their own, tensions rise, drawing the attention of the Elders, who are curious about the effect such an insignificant predator can have on a pack. But Meg knows the dangers, for she has seen in the cards how it will all end—with her standing beside a grave.
What are you not-so-patiently waiting on this Wednesday?
While I’m also sad for this one to end, I recently heard she is writing a spin-off series so even though I will miss Meg and the wolves (as well as the weather ponies!) I’m sure I’ll fall in love with other characters living in this world. I need this one NOW!

You must read everything Anne Bishop! She builds such wonderful realms and characters; I cannot imagine life without her! I have read and re-read Anne’s works and never have I tired of them. The Black Jewels trilogy and subsequent books will always be my favorite, but they are all so very special.
Oooo, this series keeps going! One of my bloggy friends absolutely adores this author’s books, and she has been nudging me to read this series. I’m not a huge fan of longer series but if the books are good then it doesn’t bother me. 😀 I hope you enjoy this book when you get a chance to read it!
Have a wonderful week. =)
