Top Ten Tuesday is an original feature/weekly meme created by The Broke and the Bookish. This feature was created because they are particularly fond of lists at The Broke and the Bookish. They’d love to share their lists with other bookish folks and would LOVE to see your top ten lists!
Happy Tuesday y’all! This week’s topic is “Top Ten Unique Book Titles,” and I’ll be honest I’m not really sure what to write for this topic ? SO I’ve decided to tweak it just a little. This week I’ll be listing books that caught my attention based on the title alone. I did a similar topic about covers earlier this year so I thought it would be fun to discuss books that I’ve bought or added to my TBR based on the title alone. Here are the ten most recent books I’ve added to my ever-growing TBR based on their attention-catching titles. As always, titles link to Goodreads, Blog, or Amazon(aff) and are in no particular order.
Top Ten Titles that Caught My Eye
A Path of Ashes by Brian Parker: I picked up this book as a freebie last week. The title caught my attention, then the cover sold it. I’ve been craving a good post-apocalyptic book for a while now and I’m hoping this satisfies the craving. The reviews look decent so I have high hopes 😀
Nameless by Jennifer Jenkins: I came across this book while looking at another on Amazon. The title caught my eye and the blurb sold it. Clans of paranormal creatures, civil war, survival type story…yes please!
Prism by Nina Walker: This is the first book in The Color Alchemist series. Y’all the title of the series attracted me more than anything else. I love a good fantasy book but I’ve never read one where color alchemy is at its heart. I’m kind of excited to give it a go. Has anyone else read it?
Love and Decay by Rachel Higginson: Guys I’ve wanted to read this series forever. It’s been on my TBR list since I first came across it in 2013. The combination of the two words Love and Decay caught my attention originally. I have a thing for zombies and this serial series sounds right up my alley. I’ve been waiting for the omnibus though to read it and they are finally here 😀
Beneath the Shine by Sarah Fine: Sarah Fine is one of my favorite authors, she’s on my auto-buy list. Somehow though, I missed that this was her book until after the title caught my attention. Then I read the blurb about a technological dystopian US and knew I needed to read this ASAP.
Rebel’s Blade by Frost Kay: I have to admit that this was a mix of title and cover that caught my attention. This is high fantasy at its best in my opinion. I haven’t even read the book, just the blurb and I know that it will be good. Why? You have a strong heroine fed up with the ruling class, leading a rebellion and a crowned prince who will do anything to stop a civil war. I’m excited just talking about it 😀
The Girl who Shot First by Angel Lawson: This book came up in a recommendation in a group I’m a part of on Facebook. It was an author role call of sorts and they were sharing their books. All I saw was the title and knowing this is a scifi/apocalypse/dystopia fan group I knew I needed to read it. A country on the brink of extinction, a virus that turns people into zombie-ish monsters…SOLD!
Ella, the Slayer by A.W. Exley: Ok so the title caught my attention…kind of like Buffy, the Vampire Slayer did in its heyday…then did you see the cover?! Ella as in Cinderella?!?! Mind blown….then I read the blurb. Ella is slaying zombies. It’s free on Kindle (as of writing this post)…you can thank me later 😉
The Kiss That Launched 1,000 Gifs by Sheralyn Pratt: That title ? Doesn’t it sound like something you’d watch on the Lifetime/Hallmark channel at Christmas or Valentine’s Day? I mean that in a good way of course…I’m addicted to those light, fluffy romances and occasionally I love a light, fluffy contemporary romance between my post-apocalyptic, zombie eating science fictions.
Crane by Stacey Rourke: The title and author originally is what caught my attention when eyeing this book the first time. Then I read the synopsis, couple that with this cover and it’s a book series I’m dying to read. This particular book is about the legend of Ichabod Crane. I love retellings!
Your turn! What titles caught your eye when looking at books to purchase? Have you bought any because of the title alone? Share below
Yes, I often buy a book just from the title, not as often as the cover art but almost. I am drawn to the unique tiles that don’t always make sense like The Five Quarters of the Orange which the first on my list. The Kiss That Launched is an intriguing title, I hope you enjoy it.

Glad to know I’m not the only one. I agree that I don’t do it as often as the cover art but I do it a lot ? The Five Quarters of the Orange reminds me of The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society (loved that book and such a unique name!)
I love that cover of Crane and know I bought the book specifically because of it. I love Headless Horseman stuff (even though I didn’t care much for the original tale). Just call me odd. Great list!

Me too! I think the author revamped it since I bought it. I didn’t remember this cover and I’m sure I would have bought it for that alone ?
I totally haven’t heard of any of these!

Haha! No worries ? I tend to read a lot of indie and so these books pop up in my Amazon recommendations which is how I found most of these originally.
Crane is one of those titles that made me curious, but once I saw the cover….I am usually swayed more by the cover, but if it is one of those jump off the page titles, that will do just fine for me.

I agree. Crane caught my eye because I was thinking Ichabod Crane and then the author revamped the cover recently and I’m in love ?
OOoh nice picks! All totally new to me ones too! A few are catching my eye though! Great picks!
Here’s my Tuesday Post
Have a GREAT day!

I really like the look of the Sarah Fine book – I haven’t read anything by her before. But this one looks like it would be a good introduction to her writing. Thank you for the selection, Lillian:)
Sarah Fine is one of my favorites. I can’t give a rec on this one because I haven’t read it yet. Check out her Guards of the Shadowlands series…phenomenal ?
Thank you for that recommendation:) I’ll look it out.
Hi Lillian, what a unique list! I love how you twisted the topic a little! I too was drawn to Nameless by title alone… not a lot of books do that for me so I was surprised to see the one on your list!! I normally go by cover, title and blurb all together… Crane though… that totally caught my eye too, maybe because its Halloween soon?!
I love top 10 Tuesday… Here is my post if you’re interested in my choices <3 http://wp.me/p3LRfZ-6Go
I remember when Kathy was pushing The Kiss that Launched 1000 GIFS and I just couldn’t get on board with it. Now I don’t know why because it would have been something I would have enjoyed. The title just threw me off.
Prism does sound like it has potential. 🙂

Oh dude, I’m a Rachel Higginson mega fan! I’ve only read 2 seasons of L&D, I LOVED the first but had some reservations about the 2nd and haven’t gotten back to it. I hope you end up loving it!!
