Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly event originally created and hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine that spotlights upcoming releases that we are all eagerly anticipating. Jill has been MIA since August of 2016. Despite this, the meme lives on….Hope you come back Jill! Until then I will be joining Tressa at Wishful Endings and her meme Can’t-Wait Wednesday.

Happy Wednesday y’all! This week I’m excitedly waiting on Leigh Bardugo‘s King of Scars. I’ll admit I haven’t read the original Grisha Trilogy. BUT I have read the Six of Crows duology and LOVED it. My hope is that I can read the Grisha Trilogy before the year is out and then I’ll be all set for King of Scars. I’m really intrigued by Nikolai’s story, having briefly met the character in Crooked Kingdom. Honestly though, I’m just in love with this universe 😀
King of Scars by Leigh BardugoSeries: Nikolai Duology #1
Published by Macmillan on 2019-01-29
Length: 528 pages
Nikolai Lantsov has always had a gift for the impossible. No one knows what he endured in his country’s bloody civil war—and he intends to keep it that way. Now, as enemies gather at his weakened borders, the young king must find a way to refill Ravka’s coffers, forge new alliances, and stop a rising threat to the once-great Grisha Army.
Yet with every day a dark magic within him grows stronger, threatening to destroy all he has built. With the help of a young monk and a legendary Grisha Squaller, Nikolai will journey to the places in Ravka where the deepest magic survives to vanquish the terrible legacy inside him. He will risk everything to save his country and himself. But some secrets aren’t meant to stay buried—and some wounds aren’t meant to heal.

I am so excited for this book as well! I didn’t *love* the Grisha trilogy as much as other people (but I love the SOC duology), but I am still so intrigued by Nikolai’s character and can’t wait to read this one. I am in love with that cover as well. Great pick!
