TTT #149 – Books I’m Anticipating the 1st Half of 2019

Top Ten Tuesday is an original feature/weekly meme created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together

Happy Tuesday y’all! I’m still struggling to remember that this is a brand new year 😉 However this week’s topic has me excited: “Most Anticipated Releases for the First Half of 2019.” There are always a lot of books I’m excited to see released, and here are just ten that I’m looking forward to. As always, covers/titles link to Amazon/Goodreads/Blog. This week the books are in order by publication date (if known).

Top Ten Most Anticipated Releases for the First Half of 2019

Stain by A.G. Howard (1/15): I’ve been excited for this book for a while. I love Howard’s writing style and her ability to put a unique spin to classic tales. This one is her take on The Princess and the Pea. I can’t wait!

King of Scars by Leigh Bardugo (1/29): So I have a confession. I still haven’t read the Grisha trilogy. However I have read the Six of Crows duology and loved it! I’m really excited for more from this universe (and yes I do have plans to read the Grisha trilogy first).

The Ruin of Kings by Jenn Lyons (2/5): I’m intrigued by this one. I received the first half of the book on Netgalley and I’m on pins and needles for the book’s release so I can read the rest. I love a good high fantasy and this is it! Plus DRAGONS!

Lady Smoke by Laura Sebastian (2/5): I loved Ash Princess. I read it while on vacation last summer, in one sitting, burning my shoulders at the pool in the process 😂 So to say I’m excited that it’s almost time for the release of the sequel is an understatement.

Four Dead Queens by Astrid Scholte (2/26): I’ll be honest, the title alone has me intrigued. Then I read the blurb. Thieves, murder, death, and mayhem, plus a lot of mystery and most likely a little steamy romance and I’m sold 😉

Wild Country by Anne Bishop (3/5): I am a fan of The Others series, so of course I’m excited for another book set in the same world. I’m a little surprised that it doesn’t seem to build on Lake Silence but I’m still excited 😀

Sherwood by Meagan Spooner (3/19): I loved Hunted by this author, a dark retelling of Beauty and the Beast. So to say I’m excited about her realistic spin on Robin Hood is an understatement.

Finale by Stephanie Garber (5/7): I’m beyond excited for this one. I loved Caraval and Legendary. I’ll be honest I’m a little afraid though. I always am when a series is ending. This series has been fantastic so far and I think it’s finale (pun intended) will be epic!

Dark Shores by Danielle L. Jensen (5/7): Piracy, blackmail, meddling gods….check, check, check! I’m excited for this one. Pirates and fantasy mix well in my opinion.

Blood Heir by Amélie Wen Zhao (6/4): A fantastical retelling of Anastasia? Yes please!
