Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly event originally created and hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine that spotlights upcoming releases that we are all eagerly anticipating. Jill has been MIA since August of 2016. Despite this, the meme lives on….Hope you come back Jill! Until then I will be joining Tressa at Wishful Endings and her meme Can’t-Wait Wednesday.
Happy Wednesday y’all! This week I’m eagerly waiting on Deadly Curious by Cindy Anstey. I absolutely love Victorian London as a setting. To be honest, it’s all I really needed to know about this book to want to read it 😉 But then I read the blurb and I am hooked! I cannot wait to read another Victorian mystery. I’m more than a little intrigued. Plus there’s mention of the Bow Street Runners! A little mystery this Summer is just what I need.
Deadly Curious by Cindy AnsteyPublished by Swoon Reads on 2020-06-23
Length: 352 pages
1834. Sophia Thompson wants nothing more than to be one of the famed Bow Street Runners, London's most elite corps of detectives. Never mind that a woman has never before joined their ranks--and certainly never mind that her reclusive family has forbidden her from pursuing such an unladylike goal.
She gets the chance to prove her capabilities when an urgent letter arrives from her frantic cousin Daphne, begging Sophia to come look into the suspicious death of Daphne's brother.
As Sophia begins to unravel the tangled threads of the case--with the help of a charming young policeman--she soon realizes that the murderer may be even closer to her family than she ever suspected.
