TTT #196 – Forgotten Reads

Posted June 9, 2020 by Lillian in Features / 10 Comments

Top Ten Tuesday is an original feature/weekly meme created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together

Happy Tuesday y’all! This week’s topic is “Books I’ve Added to My TBR and Forgotten Why.” I’m really bad about this. My Goodreads TBR is sitting around 380, and my Kindle TBR shelf is well….we don’t talk about that number 😅 I have a serious one-click addiction y’all, though I’m starting to get better….But I digress, this week I’m tweaking the topic just a bit (shocker I know) and I’m going to list the top ten books on my physical TBR shelf that I’ve forgotten about it. As always the list is in no particular order and covers/titles link to Goodreads/Amazon/Blog.

Forgotten TBR Reads

Children of Blood and Bone by Toni Adeyemi: I received this book as an arc from a Goodreads giveaway. I was so excited to get it too. And then it sat on my shelf for months on end just waiting for me to read it. Sadly it still sits there. I need to remedy this ASAP.

Three Dark Crowns by Kendare Blake: I’ve been wanting to read this series for a long time. It’s been on my Goodreads TBR longer than on my physical shelves. My husband surprised me with the entire series as a gift (he even got the novellas). I need to move this up the pile and read it soon…

The Long Way to a Small, Angry Planet by Becky Chambers: This book came to my shelves after several recommended it to me. I found the paperback cheaper than the ebook, so naturally I bought a physical copy of it. Sad to admit but I read more from my Kindle now than anywhere else, so books on my physical shelf become lost often…

The Magicians by Lev Grossman: I really want to read this one! My husband and I binged the SyFy series on Netflix a while back, and I was intrigued by the world. I love how the author took a few of my favorite elements from Harry Potter and Chronicles of Narnia to make a new, mostly unique series. My husband started reading it before I did and didn’t really care for it, so the series got put on the backburner, but is still on my TBR.

Illuminae by Amie Kaufman & Jay Kristoff: I purchased this series after reading Aurora Rising last year. Y’all it was my favorite read from 2019. I love this author duo. I’ve got to make it a priority to read this series this year.

Renegades by Marissa Meyer: How have I not read this yet?! I’m so mad at myself for still not reading it. I love Meyer’s other books (all of them) and this is superheroes!!! Making this a priority this year….along with all the others on the list 😉

Sunrise by Mike Mullin: I read the first two books of this series and adored them. However when I started reading this one, I realized there was a significant time jump for the characters. I’m not crazy about those as I have a hard time reconnecting with the characters after it jumps….however I still want to read it. I need to know what’s happening in this world. And I heard that there is a new book coming, don’t know if that’s true or a rumor but if it is true I gotta get to reading!

Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children by Ransom Riggs: I purchased this after seeing the movie. I really enjoyed the movie, and I love this genre. Why have I not read it before?!

Muse of Nightmares by Laini Taylor: I’m ashamed to say that I still haven’t read this. I loved Strange the Dreamer. In fact, I’ve read it twice. I’ve got to make time for this one asap.

Stain by A.G. Howard: I love fairy tale retellings and I love Howard! I’ve read most of her other books. One of these days I’ll get to this one too.

Your Turn! What books have you forgotten on your TBR? Any of mine I should move up the list? Share below

  1. My main TBR on Goodreads has just under 5000 titles on it because I throw books on there whenever I hear about one I think I’d like. I’m sure there are some on there that wouldn’t interest me so much these days, but I’m too lazy to go search them out. LOL.

The only book I’ve read on your list is MISS PEREGRINE’S, which I liked a lot. The first book is the best in the series, in my opinion. You should read it. It’s fun and unique.

    Happy TTT!

  2. Yeah this one was kind of eye-opening! Lol. But for some books, I know why it’s on my TBR pile. It’s from a favorite author, it’s paranormal related, it’s fairy tale related, a continuing series…etc, etc. Usually I know why this particular book is in my pile. I chose some of my older TBR books mostly ones I can’t immediately recall why this book is in my TBR pile. Like how did you get here? Lol.

Renegades and Stain are both in my TBR pile too…because I enjoyed the authors’ previous works! I still need to read Howard’s Roseblood too for that matter…time moves too fast and I read too slow! Lol!

    Here’s my Tuesday Post

    Have a GREAT day!
