Down the TBR Hole #5

Down the TBR Hole Meme

Down The TBR Hole is a meme originally created by Lia @ Lost in a Story that revolves around cleansing your TBR of all those books you’re never going to read and sort through it all to know what’s actually on there. Lia is no longer blogging, so Jody @ I’m Into Books has taken over. Be sure to join the linky on her site!

Happy Saturday y’all! I’m continuing my journey down the TBR hole this month. I think we’ve all been there at one point or another – Looking at our TBR, wondering what to read, and being completely overwhelmed at the sheer amount of books we have listed. As of writing this post, my current Goodreads TBR shelf has 362 books on it, my physical shelf and Kindle TBR shelf have more than I care to share at this time (mainly because I don’t want to count them 😅). Want to join me?

It works like this:

  • Go to your Goodreads to-read shelf.
  • Order on ascending date added.
  • Take the first 5 (or 10 (or even more!) if you’re feeling adventurous) books. Of course, if you do this weekly (or monthly like me), you start where you left off the last time.
  • Read the blurbs of the books
  • Decide: keep it or should it go?

I will only being doing this once a month, typically the first Saturday. And I’m probably going to do 10 or more a month. I’m starting with my Goodreads TBR. I’d like to leave only books I plan to read on there and remove all the others. I started this journey on a TTT post. You can follow the journey here: Down the TBR Hole.

Definitely, Maybe in Love by Ophelia London

“A modern take on Pride and Prejudice” truly that is all I need to know. I love a good Austen retelling. Also I own this one.

Verdict: STAYS

Alice in Zombieland by Gena Showalter

Alice in Wonderland plus zombies?! Yes please! I own this one, I even remember when I snagged it on Kindle. WHY haven’t I read it yet?! Y’all this is what happens when you have a TBR that is too long 😂

Verdict: STAYS

The Queen of Zombie Hearts by Gena Showalter

Because I still haven’t read book one (it’s above), I’m going to remove this one from my TBR for now. Most likely it will be readded after reading Alice in Zombieland.

Verdict: GOES

Queen of Someday by Sherry D. Ficklin

This is another I remember adding to my TBR and actually purchasing (finally I’m starting to remember some!). I was intrigued by some fellow bloggers reviews of the series. But the mention of the Russian Empire sold it for me.

Verdict: STAYS

The Paper Magician by Charlie N. Holmberg

Who can resist a story about magicians? Plus that cover gives me Victorian vibes. I remember getting this book as a part of the Prime Kindle First back before it was released. The blurb is intriguing….intriguing enough that I may just be moving this one to the top of the TBR pile.

Verdict: STAYS

The Maze Runner by James Dashner

I’ve tried to read this one more than once on numerous occassions. I love YA dystopia, but this one I just couldn’t get into for some reason. I have an audiobook copy now, but I don’t know if or when I’ll get to it.

Verdict: GOES

The Fire Sisters by A.G. Henley

I devoured the first two books in the Brilliant Darkness series! Then I waited for book three to come out, and y’all I’m ashamed to say I forgot about it….That’s all on me! I would love to go back and binge read this series. I love the dynamic between the two main characters, and one of them is blind. I think the author does a fantastic job of showing how the character copes with it and continues on with life.

Verdict: STAYS

Thicker than Blood by Madeline Sheehan & Claire C. Riley

This book came highly recommended to me from an author friend. It’s a zombie apocalypse so of course I couldn’t say no 😉 For now I think I’ll hang on to this one.

Verdict: STAYS

An Ember in the Ashes by Sabaa Tahir

I remember when this book first came out I made the decision to wait until the whole series was out before I read it. Why? Because I knew it would be one I’d want to binge. A fantasy world based off ancient Rome is my go-to kind of read 😀

Verdict: STAYS

Pride’s Prejudice by Misty Dawn Pulsipher

Y’all I have a serious problem with my addiction to Austen retellings 😂 I feel like I’ve been posting about them a lot lately. I don’t regret though. I am a sucker for them. I read Pulsipher’s Persuaded and really enjoyed it. With that in mind and the fact that these are in KU, I will keep it on my TBR for now.

Verdict: STAYS
