TTT #223 ~ 2022 Releases I Was Excited About and Should Have Read Already

Posted January 31, 2023 by Lillian in Features / 7 Comments

Top Ten Tuesday is an original feature/weekly meme created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together

Happy Tuesday y’all! This week’s topic is a freebie so I thought I’d pull a topic that I missed or haven’t done recently. I chose to feature the books that released last year that I haven’t gotten to read yet. As always, covers/title link to the blog, Goodreads, or Amazon (affiliate).

Hotel Magnifique by Emily J. Taylor: I preordered this one thinking that I’d read it right away and then didn’t 🤦🏼‍♀️ It’s compared to Caraval which is one of my all-time favorite series, so I need to get to this as soon as I can.

Rise of the Snake Goddess by Jenny Elder Moke: I loved the first book in this series about Samantha Knox. Set in the 1920s, these mysteries are filled with twists and turns plus a little romance and friendship. I cannot believe I haven’t read it yet….book three comes out soon so I need to get on it!

Blade Breaker by Victoria Aveyard: I’ll be honest, I was on the fence about this one. I didn’t love Realm Breaker, but I liked it enough and the ending hooked me enough that I want to read it. I just got an audiobook copy from the library so I should knock this one out this month.

Where Oceans Burn by Casey L. Bond: This author has become an auto buy for me in the last few years so I actually have a pretty copy of this one sitting on my shelf. Now to find time to actually read it *sigh*

Violet Made of Thorns by Gina Chen: This book looks amazing and came in my 2nd Fairyloot box. A morally grey witch and a cursed prince? Why, yes please, sign me up for it now!

Book of Night by Holly Black: Black is another auto-buy for me after reading The Folks of the Air series. I can honestly say I don’t know what this one is about, but it is sitting on my shelf waiting to be read.

The City of Dusk by Tara Sim: Complex world building and fantasy is my preferred reading so to see many reviews written about these two things sold me. Now to find time.

Saint by Adrienne Young: This is a prequel of sorts to Fable and Namesake about her father (I believe). I cannot wait to dive into it as soon as I possibly can.

A Thousand Heartbeats by Kiera Cass: Another auto-buy author for me, she’s also a DEAR (drop everything and read) author for me too, but I didn’t this time and now regret it. I have a copy now, so again, just need to make time….

The Dead Romantics by Ashley Poston: I bought this one for its quirky blurb. I love unconventional romances, and this one definitely fits the bill. I think I’m going to read this one for Valentine’s Day 😀

Your Turn! What 2022 releases are still on your TBR? Any of these I should make a priority and read asap? Share below 💗

  1. Jo

City of Dusk is one I want to read and haven’t got around to yet either, I loved Tara Sim’s YA fantasy series, The Timekeeper trilogy, so I definitely want to read more from her.

  2. Ooh nice ones! I see some that I still need to read too! Lol. The Dead Romantics, Hotel Magnifique, and Saint–though I still need to read the other two books too! Wasn’t sure if I should read Saint first or read the original duology THEN the prequel. Never sure what to do when prequels are released AFTER the original series! I did read Book of Night and Violet Made of Thorns! But I still need to start Aveyard’s new series! So a bit of a mixed bag here for me! Lol.

Hope you’re able to read all these this year!

    Here’s my Tuesday Post

    Have a GREAT day!
