Down The TBR Hole is a meme originally created by Lia @ Lost in a Story that revolves around cleansing your TBR of all those books you’re never going to read and sort through it all to know what’s actually on there. Lia is no longer blogging, so Jody @ I’m Into Books has taken over. Be sure to join the linky on her site!
Happy Saturday y’all! I’m back and ready to continue my journey down the TBR hole today. As of writing this post, my current Goodreads TBR shelf has 279 books on it; my physical shelf, my ARC shelf, and Kindle TBR shelf have more than I care to share at this time (mainly because I don’t want to count them). Want to join me?
It works like this:
- Go to your Goodreads to-read shelf.
- Order on ascending date added.
- Take the first 5 (or 10 (or even more!) if you’re feeling adventurous) books. Of course, if you do this weekly (or monthly like me), you start where you left off the last time.
- Read the blurbs of the books
- Decide: keep it or should it go?
I will only being doing this once a month, typically the first Saturday. And I’m probably going to do 10 or more each time. I’m starting with my Goodreads TBR. I’d like to leave only books I plan to read on there and remove all the others. I started this journey on a TTT post. You can follow the journey here: Down the TBR Hole.
The Kiss of Deception by Mary E. Pearson
I remember adding this one to my TBR though for the life of me I can’t figure out why I still haven’t read it. My blogging partner, Amanda, reviewed it on the blog a few years ago. She enjoyed it which means I will too. One of these days I hope to get to it.
Verdict: STAYS
Broken Throne by Victoria Aveyard
I loved the Red Queen series, and somehow I haven’t finished it yet 🫣 It is on my to-do list this year. This particular book is a collection of short stories set during and after the series. I already own it and cannot wait to read it! I’m thinking a series binge may be in order…
Verdict: STAYS
The Waking Forest by Alyssa Wees
I don’t remember adding this one, but that cover is gorgeous 😍 The blurb sounds interesting and definitely right up my alley. I enjoy dark and mysterious fantasies. However, this one isn’t available at my library and since I’m trying to read more of what I currently own….this one will have to go for now.
Verdict: GOES
Another one I don’t remember, but looking at the few that are grouped together, I do believe I was in the mood for this type of darker fantasy at the time I added it. Reading the blurb now, I still want to read it, and thankfully they have it at my local library. Now to just wait my turn for it 😉
Verdict: STAYS
Reconnected by Catherine Tinker
I remember this one! It looks super cute about friendship, love, and second chances. However, the book is out of print, and I cannot find it anywhere. So it goes….
Verdict: GOES
I love a dystopian fantasy….like give me all of them please! This one sounds amazing. I can’t believe I haven’t read it yet. A country on the brink of revolution, a princess trying to save her kingdom and brother. I’m going to have to get a copy of this one asap 😉
Verdict: STAYS
No Ocean Too Wide by Carrie Turansky
I have a soft spot for historical fiction so it comes as no surprise to find this one on my TBR list. It’s based on a true events about British orphans being sent overseas and follows two siblings. While it sounds like a fantastic read, I’m not sure it is for me….
Verdict: GOES
Pride and Dad Jokes by Penny Reid
I love Penny Reid’s books. I’ve slowly been working my way through her backlist and hope to have read them all by the end of this year. This particular book was announced a few years ago, but has not been released yet. I believe it is coming out this year though and I cannot wait.
Verdict: STAYS
As a child (and an adult), I’ve always been fascinated by the story of the Romanovs. To know that it is history and not a fairy tale is tragic. Growing up, I imagined the Princess Anastasia alive somewhere in the world. Logically I know that isn’t true, but it was a dream many share. This book is a reimagining of the fairytale Anastasia mixed with a little history. I purchased a copy at release, now I just need to read it.
Verdict: STAYS
While I don’t typically read contemporary YA, occasionally one will catch my eye. This book is one of those. Super cute cover, and the blurb is adorable. It’s also available in KU so I think I’ll hang on to this one for a while.
Verdict: STAYS
Boys of Brayshaw High by Meagan Brandy
Remember what I said on the last book 😅 Honestly not sure why this one is on my TBR. It is nothing like my normal reads. It looks like it would be good and gets good reviews, but not my kind of read. Think I’ll pass on it.
Verdict: GOES
The Half King by Melissa Landers
This book looks beautiful, and I love the author which is how it wound up on my TBR. It is not due out til this fall so I’ll just have to keep waiting on it 😉
Verdict: STAYS
Did I just check out the audiobook from my library of this one? Why yes, yes I did 😀 Hopefully it will be read by the end of the month 🤞
Verdict: STAYS
This one sounds amazing. I love a good sci-fi dystopian, apocalypse-is-approaching story. This one is about an AI in a far distant future who is trying to save the human race from dying when the sun dies. Now to find a copy 🤔
Verdict: STAYS
I love this author and have slowly been making my way through her backlist. I also own this one already 😉 Hoping to make this one my #TBRChallenge read for this month 🤞

Awesome! I’m glad someone has picked it up. I’ll join the linky and be sure to update my posts. 🙂
Looks like you picked good ones to stay. When I saw the Penny Reid one I hoped you’d keep it since it hasn’t even been published yet, lol. I need to finish the Red Queen series too!
