Top Ten Tuesday is an original feature/weekly meme created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together
Happy Tuesday y’all! This week’s topic is “Books I Had VERY Strong Emotions About.” It’s rare a book will take me through all the emotions (happy, sad, scared, excited, mad, etc.) so today I’m listing those books that gave me emotional whiplash or just left me super satisfied. As always, these books are in no particular order. Covers/Titles link to blog review, Goodreads, or Amazon (affiliate).

Full Flight by Ashley Schumacher: Every book I’ve read by this author has been so poignant and utterly heartbreaking and uplifting all at the same time. This particular book broke me into a million tiny pieces. I was sobbing at the end. Even writing about it years later is making me tear up. 100% recommend!
Lost Stars by Claudia Gray: On a lighter note, I loved this book. Every. Single. Moment. I’ve always been a big Star Wars fan, but never really cared for the books. This one I love. 🤫 I’ve already read it a second time. It hits all the highlights and tells the story of the original trilogy from different perspectives.
House of Roots and Ruin by Erin A. Craig: I love everything this author has written so far. If you enjoy dark, gothic fantasy, this is it. This particular book took me through all the feels from excitement to wariness to hopeful new love to downright terrified. And the ending….it’s like an M. Night Shyamalan movie. It will not leave you with the warm and fuzzies 😅
The Godparent Trap by Rachel Van Dyken: I don’t think I’ve ever laughed and cried so much during a read. This book has ALL the feels. I adored the storyline, the romance, and the kids. They were adorable and just as much a part of the story as the adults (which I loved). If you enjoyed the movie Life as We Know It, you’ll love this one.
The Darkening by Sunya Mara: This book reminded me of why I love dark fantasy. It sucked me in. I was feeling everything the characters felt from romance to betrayal and everything in between.

This Vicious Grace by Emily Thiede: This one broke my heart, but then mended it right back up. I loved this fantasy about a girl whose touch can kill and a boy who can live with her touch. It’s a beautiful romance, but also an exciting and dangerous adventure.
Places We’ve Never Been by Kasie West: I don’t typically read YA contemporary, but for this author I do. I loved everything about this book. It’s a sweet second-chance romance about two former best friends. I laughed, I cried, and I swooned. All the elements of a great romance.
The No-Show by Beth O’Leary: This author has a gift. Her stories are heart-touching, but so real in their delivery that I expect to meet these characters on the street. This one is told through different timelines and is guaranteed to at least make you tear up if not cry outright. But no worries, there is an HEA.
To Sir, With Love by Lauren Layne: This book left me smiling for hours after I finished it and still makes me smile thinking about it. For all the girls who grew up with Nora Ephron movies, this one is for you. I laughed, I kinda teared up, and I definitely swooned. Highly recommend as it is perfect summer reading!
Never Apart by Romily Bernard: It’s been almost seven years since I read this book. I read it in one sitting. And y’all, I still think about this book. The story is haunting and heartbreaking, an edge-of-your-seat read that will leave you breathless and begging for more. It is unlike anything I’ve ever read or have read since. If you enjoy thrillers, I highly recommend this one.

OOoh nice picks! Quite a few new to me ones except for HORAR! I LOOOVED that one! Your description of the ending is spot on too!! I am dying for her to write the next one but I think she said it might not be until 2026! So it’s going to be a killer wait! This Vicious Grace is one I kept from FL when I got a copy but haven’t read yet. Hope to get around to it one of these days as I feel like the storyline is somewhat familiar to me…just in the simplest sense of course!
Great picks all around!
Here’s my Tuesday Post

It is wonderful when you find books like that and that makes you think about it for a while after.

I love when a book hits me like that! I’m always on the lookout for the next one 🙂
