Top Ten Tuesday is an original feature/weekly meme created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together
Happy Tuesday y’all! This week’s topic is a Thanksgiving freebie. I think it is good to dwell on the things and people we are thankful for, not just during the holiday season. Below is not my typical bookish list. Instead, I’m listing out what I am thankful for this year.
I am thankful for my family. This has been a long, hard year, and I honestly wouldn’t have made it without my little family. My husband has (and always has been) my rock and place I go when I need comfort and safety. I don’t even really have words for how much I love and appreciate him. And my son…just no words. He is a joy even with those teenage hormones 😂
I am thankful for my health. Earlier this year I started having some weird neurological symptoms like water dripping down my legs, numbness and tingling in my hands and feet, blurred vision and other things that made me question my sanity or if I was having a stroke. After some lab work, it was determined I had a severe B12 deficiency and the start of macrocytic anemia. Thankfully, that was easily treated, and most of my symptoms have gone away.
I am thankful for my pack rat tendencies. Odd, I know. I don’t like clutter and have been trying to clean out, toss or donate what I can. Earlier this month I started cleaning out our spare bedroom to turn it into a library/office. I found a stack of cards (birthday, Christmas, anniversary, Mother’s Day, and just because) dating back to 2007 😂 In that stack though, I found some precious notes from my grandmother who we lost this summer. Some were sweet messages in birthday cards, others were cards just to let me know she was thinking of me. Needless to say I had a good cry before pulling all those out to save. And speaking of my grandmother….
I am thankful for grandparents who love unconditionally. I had those grandparents growing up. I never questioned how much they loved me. They’d pout as much as I did if I couldn’t go home with them for a weekend. They took me to church on Sundays, fishing and camping, bike riding, hiking, and instilled in me a love of reading. And I’m so thankful my son has those grandparents in my parents and my in-laws. He’s also been blessed to know his great-grandparents.
I am thankful for our church and community. Our church is focused on life-change and breathing the word of God into the community. I’m so thankful to be a part and work as the hands and feet of Jesus.
Paul wrote to the Philippians while imprisoned in Rome, “Don’t worry about anything, but in everything, through prayer and petition with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus” (Phil. 4:6-7 CSB, emphasis mine). It would have been very easy for me to worry about a lot of things this year: my health, my family, the loss of my grandmother, my son, the election…the list goes on and on. But instead, I’ve had peace knowing that at the end of the day, no matter how scary the world looks or what is happening, my God is sovereign over it all. I challenge you to find the things and people in your life that you are thankful for and dwell on those this holiday season instead of the what-ifs and worries of tomorrow.

No matter what is going on in my life and in the world around me, I can always find peace in counting my blessings. I know that God is overall and that His eye is on us even when it feels like He’s fallen asleep on the job! Faith can be hard, but practicing gratitude helps me see His hand in all things.
Happy TTT!

Ohhh nice! I’m thankful for my health and family as well. I have great parents who are supporting me as I try to find my own place to live. I contribute and everything but it’s so hard to find a place since I am solo person. Great list!
Here’s my Tuesday Post
Have a GREAT day!

So happy to hear your health issue was sorted out! I too had a scare earlier this year, which was caught early and dealt with.
I’m glad you’re feeling better! Happy Thanksgiving!

This was a really lovely list! There’s so much to be thankful for if we just take a moment to truly look for the good moments. I am also thankful for my grandparents who have always unconditionally loved me 🙂
