Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly event originally created and hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine that spotlights upcoming releases that we are all eagerly anticipating. Jill has been MIA since August of 2016. Despite this, the meme lives on….Hope you come back Jill! Until then I will be joining Tressa at Wishful Endings and her meme Can’t-Wait Wednesday.
Happy Wednesday y’all! This week I’m eagerly waiting on Sunrise on the Reaping by Suzanne Collins. The Hunger Games is one of my all-time favorite series. I’ve read it more times than I can count. I am SO excited to get Haymitch’s story and the story of the 50th quarter quell. I remember the first time I read the scene where Katniss and Peeta where watching tapes of his games and my heart breaking. I’ve been curious to know more ever since. I cannot wait to get my hands on a copy of this book!

Series: The Hunger Games
Published by Scholastic Press on 2025-03-18
Length: 400 pages

The phenomenal fifth book in the Hunger Games series!
When you’ve been set up to lose everything you love, what is there left to fight for?
As the day dawns on the fiftieth annual Hunger Games, fear grips the districts of Panem. This year, in honor of the Quarter Quell, twice as many tributes will be taken from their homes.
Back in District 12, Haymitch Abernathy is trying not to think too hard about his chances. All he cares about is making it through the day and being with the girl he loves.
When Haymitch’s name is called, he can feel all his dreams break. He’s torn from his family and his love, shuttled to the Capitol with the three other District 12 tributes: a young friend who’s nearly a sister to him, a compulsive oddsmaker, and the most stuck-up girl in town. As the Games begin, Haymitch understands he’s been set up to fail. But there’s something in him that wants to fight . . . and have that fight reverberate far beyond the deadly arena.

I’m looking forward to it! I’ve enjoyed the rest of the series so I have high hopes
I think I own the first one and haven’t read it yet. Sigh.

Oh nice! I just saw this at the last blog I visited! I never got into this series but I do love the idea of a prequel story to see how things (possibly) got all started for the chaos of the original series! Hope you enjoy this one too!
