Dive in to the final installment in the battle between sisters!

Before the dawn of a new age can begin, the old one must die.
An empire will crumble. And a champion will lose.
It’s the same every millennia when the cycle of prophecy begins anew. One by one, the kingdoms of Teitora fall to the words of a book written long ago.

The first great battle is over and Samara, now the leader of Doragune, has fled–through no choice of her own. The dragons have taken her. They say it’s for her own protection, but what good is her safety when everyone she loves is in danger?

Her sister has abducted Gideon, the man she loves, and Zak, her oldest friend. Odessa has plans for them, plans for the kingdom that has turned its back on her.

With or without the power of the dragons, she will follow the crown of shadows to her rightful place as queen.

Finally, the prophecy has arrived, but what happens to the sisters when there is no longer a throne to claim?

Fury of a Crown by M. Lynn, Melissa A. Craven is the fourth installment of The Falling Kingdoms series and the final book featuring Samara and Odessa. Picking up after the events of Ruin of a Crown, we hit the ground running and don’t stop til we reach the end. If you have not read the first three books in this series, there may be minor spoilers to them in this review. Read at your own risk. After the first real battle of the prophecy, Samara, now the crowned ruler of Doragune, has fled, taken by her dragons to an unknown location to regroup. Odessa has sided with enemies of the prophecy hoping to regain control of the empire and complete the prophecy once and for all. She’s captured Gideon and Zak trying to draw out her sister and use them to aid her cause. With the prophecy coming full circle, Odessa and Samara must find a way to break the cycle or survive it.

Like I said in my review of book three, each book in this series just gets better and better. In this fourth installment, we see the cycle of prophecy moving towards completion. Luca, Fate himself, has given up on breaking the cycle and believes that, like all the other cycles, it must be ridden out. Zak and Samara have other plans. As the cycle begins to reach its climax, the prophecy changes, and it is Zak and Samara causing it. Together, they race to find a way to break the cycle, save Odessa, and end this war before it has a chance to ruin the empire.

Odessa is lost to the shadow crown. Madness grips her, and she isn’t in control of her decisions. Through a twist of fate, she finds a way to occasionally break through, letting her Chosen and Samara know that she is trapped within her own mind. Samara isn’t sure Odessa can be saved, but she has to try, right? She starts by trying to find out as much as she can about the prophecy, the crowns themselves, and the role of the Morai and dragons. I loved the addition of the dragons. They take on a larger role here as the battle begins in earnest.

Overall, I really enjoyed Fury of a Crown. The prophecy is interesting, and I loved the foreshadowing and intricate way the authors weaved the story together so that it all makes sense in the end. If you are a fan of epic fantasy with adventure abounding and a touch of romance, I highly recommend it.

About M. Lynn

Michelle Lynn fell in love with reading when she was a kid. Every kind of book gripped her imagination. As she got a little older, she got into series like Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings. Currently, her favorite is the Outlander series by Diana Gabaldon.

Michelle is an escapist. She believes that a book can take you anywhere and get you away from what's going on in your own life. You can disappear inside the pages and become a different person. Growing up, this became more and more important for her as her life changed dramatically due to an illness. It started when she was young and got worse over the years. Reading is what helped her get through it. She's still getting through it but it isn't as hard, mentally, as it once was. Like reading, writing provided her a needed escape. Her dream is for her books to be able to do that for someone else. Life is hard but this just makes it a little bit easier.

Reading and writing aren't Michelle's only vices as she deals with the illness that has now become disabling. She's also an avid hockey fan. She lives in Florida but never misses a Columbus Blue Jackets game on TV.

Michelle also spends a lot of time with her family - parents, two sisters, 2 brother in-laws, and niece. She's also constantly surrounded by animals - 2 cats and a bird- that provide much needed comfort and inspiration.

She has a college degree in business, economics, and accounting but has to decide how to tie that to writing because that's where her passion lies now.
