Top Ten Tuesday is an original feature/weekly meme created by The Broke and the Bookish. This feature was created because they are particularly fond of lists at The Broke and the Bookish. They’d love to share their lists with other bookish folks and would LOVE to see your top ten lists!
It’s Tuesday which means I get to make a list…not that I don’t like that or anything 😉 Today’s topic is “Top Ten Books I Want To Reread (or if you don’t reread…would reread in an ideal world)” which made me slightly giddy. I’m a re-reader. In fact, a majority of what I read are re-reads. “But why?” you ask. Well let me explain.
Sometimes I’m just in the mood for a comfortable read. Sometimes I might want to re-read a book simply because I enjoyed it. Maybe the next book in a series is coming out and it’s been a year since I’ve read it and it’s time to brush up on that universe. Sometimes I re-read a book because it’s my favorite and it’s that time of year that I re-read it. There are many, MANY reasons I could list, but I’ll save it and list my reasons with my books. The books below are in no particular order, titles link to Goodreads or my reviews 🙂
Top Ten Books I’m Ready to Re-Read
The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins – I think this one is pretty self-explanatory, but I’ll explain all the same. This series is one of my favorite young adult dystopias. For some reason I seem to always re-read this series in the fall, usually after Thanksgiving, and in the Spring before Easter. Every year like clockwork! Of course this year I want to re-read prior to The Mockingjay – Part One coming out.
Twilight by Stephanie Meyer – Like The Hunger Games, the Twilight Saga is one of my favorite series and around this time of year, every year, I get the urge to re-read them. I don’t really know why because book four I struggle reading (especially the Jacob part) and then the whole angst during New Moon annoys me to no end, but I still love them and I still read them. 🙂
Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen – I don’t think I can read this book enough. The first time I read it was in high school, now it seems like anytime I’m in the mood for a good angsty romance I pick this one up. I know how it ends, but I love it every time!!
The Moon Dwellers by David Estes – This is a new series to me. I started reading it in June and I’m finally to the last book! But before I read it, I would really like to go back and binge read the entire series from start to finish with no other books in-between. Not so sure I have the time to do that though 😕
The Imdalind Series by Rebecca Ethington – The last book in this series is due out sometime at the beginning of next year. The author is being a bit hush-hush about the release date as it’s still a WIP. I fell in love with this author’s writing style and this series in January last year and devoured it in less than 4 days (yes people, 4 books in four days). I’ve been resisting the urge to pick them up and re-read but with the next one due out soon I think I may cave!
The Arcana Chronicles by Kresley Cole – Another series I found in January of last year thanks to a friend’s good recommendation. Book three is due out in January and I really need to re-read so I remember everything that is going on. It’s kind of a mix between the Hunger Games and a good paranormal book.
The Unearthly by Laura Thalassa – Another recommendation from my friend that was spot on! This series is like….I don’t think I can compare it to anything! Take a girl who thought she was human and place her in a school for paranormals. Turns out she is the last of her kind and everyone is out to kill her. Makes for a great series!!! Book four is due out soon and I need to re-read if not for the refresher just for the laughs.
The Harry Potter Series by J.K. Rowling – I’m actually currently re-reading this series now with my son. Some might say I’ve started it too soon as he is only three, but he loves it! In fact the other day I caught him pretending to be on a broomstick and when I asked him what he was doing he said flying 😀
The Chronicles of Narnia by C.S. Lewis – One of my all-time favorite series. I first read Narnia in the fifth grade and since then I’ve read the entire series at least 10 times and twice already with my son. It just never gets old, and since the movies came out a few years back, I seem to always be in the mood for them around Christmas!
The Legacy by Melissa Delport – I was introduced to this series in August of this year and immediately re-read it after finishing the two books already out in the series. I liked it that much!!! Now book three is out sometime in the Spring of next year, really hoping for sooner, and I cannot wait for it. If you like young adult dystopians, I suggest you check this one out. It’s a new adult dystopian, so it’s a bit darker, the characters get into some adult situations, and of course they all battle for their lives. It’s amazing 😀
Your Turn!
What books do you like to re-read? Not a re-reader? That’s okay. What books would you suggest a re-read?
Pride and Prejudice is my favorite and it just gets better with every re-read. 🙂
