Happy Sunday y’all! So this was a good week. After spending September so busy, this week was lax. I really didn’t do much of anything besides household chores and reading. The weather on the other hand is confused. It seems to think we are still in the middle of the summer. The temps have been in the low to mid 80s ALL week!!! Where did my nice boots and plaid weather go? I want to sip my apple cider by the fireplace while I read, but it’s just too dang hot! Today it’s raining. Hurricane Nate is going to come through here tomorrow as a tropical storm/depression (not sure which yet, depends on how much he slows down when he makes landfall). I’m hoping that things will cool down and start to feel like fall with the weather that’s coming through.

Reading wise this week I managed to read/listen 6 books, one was a DNF though so I’m not sure it counts. I did read about 170 pages of it though before I finally gave up 😉 The book was written in text speak. So instead of saying “I see you.” It read “i c u.” Yeah, no capitalization, words abbreviated weirdly (doctorate = dr.ate), and sometimes no punctuation. It seriously made my eye twitch. I tried to stick it out because the story was good, but in the end I couldn’t. Has that ever happened to you?

This Week’s Book Fix

What are you reading this week?

This week is like a half week for us. Little man has fall break, so he will be out of school Thursday and Friday. We don’t really have any plans to go anywhere though he is asking to go back to Dollywood. We may do that one day. I’m hoping the weather will be drier next weekend too as we need to stain our porch. Reading wise I have several books I need to read so there’s no shortage there 😉 I’m hoping to have another good reading week and I’d like to get some reviews written. If I could get completely caught up that would be better. I think I have something like 12 reviews to write…how do y’all stay caught up?

Also, I’d love it if you’d take a minute and vote for the My TBR read this month 😀 Thanks in advance!

  1. We are going to get Nate also and like you I am hoping that cools the weather a little. I can’t deal with this humid weather anymore. My hair is so confused.
Yes, I have DNF’d a book like that, it’s like the story is good but it’s just not working. I did that with The Bone Witch, I liked the writing and the story but it wasn’t moving fast enough for me and I just had to bail.

I hope you have a great week, Llillian! Happy Reading! ox

    • Glad to know I’m not the only one with DNF issues 😉 I hate doing it especially when you invest so much time into them already but there are so many other books just begging me to read them ?

    • Yeah it made my eye twitch. I just couldn’t handle it. If it was every now and then, that’s one thing but the whole book? Not for me.
I’m enjoying Just One of the Boys so far! I’ll probably finish it today.
Hope you ave a great week Sam 🙂

  2. They said we will get some wind and rain up in the mountain here. I hope that means that is will stay a little cooler, probably not though. Enjoy the new books, the cover for The New Dark is pretty amazing. Happy reading.

    • It started raining sometime last night here and is supposed to rain through Tuesday. I’m hoping (and praying) it will cool us down. Hope you have a great week Jenea!

  3. I wouldn’t even be able to read two pages of that book. Our weather has been similar. For once in my life I am actually wishing for fall weather, eagerly awaiting its arrival, and it is just not happening.

  4. I think I would also have given up on the book you DNF. From the description I don’t think I would’ve have had an easy time reading it, therefore I don’t think I would’ve enjoyed it. But I’m impressed with how many books you’ve read! Enjoy your new batch of books – The New Dark looks good! Here’s ours: Bibliojunkies Have a great week! ~ Bel

    • That was me as well. The story line was actually fairly good, but I couldn’t handle the text speak. It distracted me too much. Hope you have a fantastic week 😀

  5. Six books!!! Wow – I call it a success when I manage to finish two books in one week. LOL! I could use a few weeks like yours to help with my Goodreads goal. I’m patiently waiting for fall weather as well – we got rain this week so I’m hoping that means the cooler temps will be here soon. Have a great upcoming week and happy reading!

    • This week was an unusual reading week for me 😉 I’m usually more like 2, 3 at most. I’m so far behind on my GR goal this year I don’t think I’ll catch up. Hope you have a great week Sam 😀
