Down The TBR Hole is a meme originally created by Lia @ Lost in a Story that revolves around cleansing your TBR of all those books you’re never going to read and sort through it all to know what’s actually on there. Lia is no longer blogging, so Jody @ I’m Into Books has taken over. Be sure to join the linky on her site!
Happy Saturday y’all! I’m back and continuing my journey down the TBR hole this month. I think we’ve all been there at one point or another – Looking at our TBR, wondering what to read, and being completely overwhelmed at the sheer amount of books we have listed. As of writing this post, my current Goodreads TBR shelf has 349 books on it, my physical shelf and Kindle TBR shelf have more than I care to share at this time (mainly because I don’t want to count them 😅). Want to join me?
It works like this:
- Go to your Goodreads to-read shelf.
- Order on ascending date added.
- Take the first 5 (or 10 (or even more!) if you’re feeling adventurous) books. Of course, if you do this weekly (or monthly like me), you start where you left off the last time.
- Read the blurbs of the books
- Decide: keep it or should it go?
I will only being doing this once a month, typically the first Saturday. And I’m probably going to do 10 or more a month. I’m starting with my Goodreads TBR. I’d like to leave only books I plan to read on there and remove all the others. I started this journey on a TTT post. You can follow the journey here: Down the TBR Hole.

I interviewed this author on the site many moons ago when he approached me about reading his book. I purchased a copy, and I’m ashamed to say that I haven’t had a chance to read it yet. It sounds amazing, a cross between Pirates of the Carribean and Mad Max, yes please! For now, I’ll keep it in the hopes that one day I will actually read it 😅
Verdict: STAYS
The Strategist by Gerrard Cowan
I absolutely loved and devoured the first book in this sci-fantasy series. I cannot believe that I never got around to finishing it. Making it a priority for this year, and y’all I’m most definitely going to have to reread because it’s been too long….
Verdict: STAYS
Passenger by Alexandra Bracken
I’m ashamed to admit that I have both an ARC copy of this book and a finished copy, and somehow I still haven’t read it 🤦🏼♀️ This was one of my most anticipated releases as well the year it came out. Another one that I’m going to make a priority to finish this year….
Verdict: STAYS
Frost Like Night by Sara Raasch
I devoured the first books of this series so I can’t even begin to tell you why I haven’t read this one yet. Most likely I put it off in the hopes of rereading them all at one time. Stupid of me, I don’t make this mistake anymore. Definitely keeping….
Verdict: STAYS
A long time ago, a girl found a cash of Rainbow Rowell books at her local used bookstore. That same girl bought them all, carted them around through 4 moves, before finally realizing she would never read them and trading them at another used bookstore. And while this book sounds amazing and one that I’d like to read one day, I sadly no longer own it.

See above story 😉 This one sounds super cute and gives me You’ve Got Mail vibes. It also happens to be on sale as of writing this post (4/2/21) so I may have gotten an ebook copy…..
Verdict: STAYS
I’m listing these together. They are both on my list. I’ve read the first four books in the series, and then hit a stand still. I’m hoping to finish finally this year. Clearly I have a lot of goals for 2021 😅
Verdict: STAYS
I love the Quarantine and Survival series by Tracey Ward. This is the second book in a spinoff series about two favorite characters. I read the first book, but then never continued with the series. While I own the book, I’m not sure I’ll ever finish at this point. Not because the series isn’t good, it is, but because I’m very much a mood reader.
Verdict: GOES
Beyond the Fence by Jen Minkman
This is a spinoff series of Minkman’s series The Island. I haven’t finished the Island series yet, so as of now, this one will go. I do like the dystopian world she’s created, so I’m not ruling out never reading it 😉
Verdict: GOES
Consuming Fire by Isabella Modra
I read and devoured the first two books of this series back when I first started blogging. I loved the X-men vibes and the mix of sci-fi and fantasy set in a contemporary world. I have every intention of reading this one some day.
Verdict: STAYS
Yet another series I loved and devoured, but somehow never finished. This is a post-apocalyptic romance that is unlike any I’ve ever read. I think a reread may be in order to binge the series.
Verdict: STAYS
The Earth Dwellers by David Estes
Hey look! Another series I never finished….I’m repeating myself alot today. This series I love. This final book is actually the end of not one but two sister series. If you like post-apocalyptic, dystopias I highly recommend it!
Verdict: STAYS
Of Dreams and Rust by Sarah Fine
This is a Phantom of the Opera retelling and I loved the first book. It ended on a bit of a cliffhanger, and I’m not sure why I never finished it. For now, this one is going because while I enjoyed the first, I’m not sure I’m willing to reread and finish the series.
Verdict: GOES
The Wrath & the Dawn by Renee Ahdieh
This has been on my TBR forever, since the first book came out. It is A Thousand and One Nights retelling. I feel like I’m the only one that hasn’t read it yet. But I plan to fix that. I finally own a copy so it is on my list to get to ASAP.
Verdict: STAYS

I haven’t read The Wrath and the Dawn either! Maybe we should read it together for the RAT next month…except I have a gagillion retellings I want to read for that RAT!

Sounds good to me! I haven’t even looked yet to see what I have for the RAT, but I know I have a ton as well. Maybe we can coordinate with a few 😉 I do better reading with a buddy!
Me too!! I’ve been loving it this year! I have a list of potentials, so we’ll see where we overlap!
