Happy Sunday y’all! This week started as any other and promised to be a fun, lazy week. I binged on the Fae trilogy by C.J. Abedi. I rewatched season 1 of Fuller House. We shopped for our Angel from the Salvation Army and dropped off those presents. We attended the Nutcracker performance by the TN Youth Ballet. And I finished Christmas shopping for the immediate family, meaning my husband and son. All in all it should have been a good week and it was until Saturday morning. My mom called to let me know that one of my uncles had passed away in the night. To say I was shocked is an understatement. Yes, he’d been sick for a long time but it was not expected at least by me or my dad. There will be no funeral because my uncle didn’t want one. He didn’t want people sad so I’ve tried not to be. My sweet husband kept me busy yesterday and my son has a PJ day planned for today. And we will be looking at houses again later today. But I’m still sad. Sad that the last time I saw my uncle wasn’t a “see you later” but actually the last time. I’m sad for my cousins and their families and I’m sad for my aunt. I’m just sad.

Since Im sad, I decided to read a sweet, holiday romance instead of picking up my next review book. It isn’t really fair to an author if I read a book when I’m sad. I learned that after my grandfather passed last year. However Shanna Hatfiled’s Hardman Holidays never ceases to make me smile.

Merry Mondays started last week!! It’s a weekly meme hosted here on Mom with a Reading Problem during the month of December (and sometimes July) to celebrate Christmas and the holiday season. Each week a different topic centered around the holidays will be discussed. I hope you will join me this year and link up your holiday themed posts! Tomorrow’s topic is: White Christmas or Beach Christmas…which is your preferred way to spend the holiday season?. To see a full list of this year’s topics, click here.
This Week’s Book Fix
What are you reading this week?
This is little man’s last full week of school before the holiday break. I’ll be helping some at the school with the set and costumes for the Christmas program, finishing up my shopping and wrapping presents. Next Saturday is my dad’s family Christmas party which will not be the same without my uncle there. Remember our family if you will this week. I know my aunt and dad would appreciate it.
so sorry to hear about your uncle. I know that is so tough. My thoughts are with you and your family!

So sorry to hear of your family loss. That’s never easy, even when it’s something you’re expecting with a sick relative. I will keep you and yours in my thoughts and prayers!
But yay for getting a portion of the Christmas shopping done! I think I have officially gotten mine done. I might pick up or two things if they go on sale, but otherwise it’s no big deal to me to get them. Just got one more order I am waiting on in the mail! Then I’ll have to wrap those items and then off to the post office to be officially done done!! LOL! I wish you luck in your shopping!!
Your new reads are totally new to me ones! Hope you enjoy them all!

I am sorry to hear about your uncle’s passing :(. That’s sweet your husband and son are trying to keep you busy. Sounds like you had a good week before that, must be nice to have most of your Christmas shopping done already. I hope this will be a good week!

Oh, Lillian, I’m so sorry. That is always tough. I am thankful to have all of my aunts and uncles, but I have lost all but one grandparent and within a year and a half both of my oldest boy cousins died suddenly. I will never forget either of those phone calls, one at exactly 8 AM and one in the middle of the night. It is sad, and it’s OK to be sad for a while. There are times I still am about my cousins. Remembering him is the best way to honor him. Your husband and your son are so wonderfully sweet to care for you so. *hugs*
So sorry to hear about your uncle, Lillian! It’s always hard to deal with a loved one passing away. And I think that even if your uncle didn’t want anyone to be sad, you’re allowed to feel sad anyway. And maybe at a later time you can come together with family and celebrate his life?
I hope you’ll have a good week and enjoy your new books {{{HUGS}}}
