Down The TBR Hole is a meme originally created by Lia @ Lost in a Story that revolves around cleansing your TBR of all those books you’re never going to read and sort through it all to know what’s actually on there. Lia is no longer blogging, so Jody @ I’m Into Books has taken over. Be sure to join the linky on her site!
Happy Saturday y’all! I’m back and continuing my journey down the TBR hole this month. I think we’ve all been there at one point or another – Looking at our TBR, wondering what to read, and being completely overwhelmed at the sheer amount of books we have listed. As of writing this post, my current Goodreads TBR shelf has 342 books on it, my physical shelf and Kindle TBR shelf have more than I care to share at this time (mainly because I don’t want to count them 😅). Want to join me?
It works like this:
- Go to your Goodreads to-read shelf.
- Order on ascending date added.
- Take the first 5 (or 10 (or even more!) if you’re feeling adventurous) books. Of course, if you do this weekly (or monthly like me), you start where you left off the last time.
- Read the blurbs of the books
- Decide: keep it or should it go?
I will only being doing this once a month, typically the first Saturday. And I’m probably going to do 10 or more a month. I’m starting with my Goodreads TBR. I’d like to leave only books I plan to read on there and remove all the others. I started this journey on a TTT post. You can follow the journey here: Down the TBR Hole.

The Stars Never Rise by Rachel Vincent
I honestly don’t remember adding this one to my TBR, but I can guarantee that it was because of that gorgeous cover! I’m such a sucker for pretty covers 😅 After reading the blurb, I can tell you this isn’t for me. So it goes.
Verdict: GOES
The Neverland Wars by Audrey Greathouse
I remember wanting to read this because I loved Peter Pan. However this was before I started reading retellings in earnest and so it slipped through the cracks. Now it looks like it’s been pulled from publication (hopefully temporarily). As such, I guess it goes.
Verdict: GOES
The Glittering Court by Richelle Mead
Another pretty cover that caught my eye 😉 However I do remember adding this one. I added it after reading and loving The Selection by Kiera Cass. I adored that series and this one has been compared to it. SO of course I want to read it. And I still do…one of these days I may actually get around to it.
Verdict: STAYS
The Hidden Oracle by Rick Riordan
Confession time….I’ve never read a Rick Riordan book. All of his books sound appealing to me, I’ve just never gotten around to them. This one is a spin off of the Percy Jackson series I believe. So one day maybe?
Verdict: STAYS
A Million Worlds with You by Claudia Gray
Every time I see this one on my TBR I get annoyed with myself. I LOVED the first two books of the series. WHY HAVE I NOT READ THIS ONE YET?! I’m going to make it a priority to read it before the end of the year. I need to know what happens to all the characters. I just need too!
Verdict: STAYS
Blackhearts by Nicole Castroman
I’m embarrassed to say that I have an arc of this one that not only slipped through the cracks, but I forgot I had til I started this post. It’s a retelling/alternate history for Blackbeard. Pirates, historical fiction, why yes please! Moving this one up the TBR pile.
Verdict: STAYS
The Runes of Bramon by Ciara Knight
I read the first two books of this series and really enjoyed them. But for whatever reason I never got around to book three. I don’t know if it was even released? I can’t find it anywhere but Goodreads, so unfortunately this one goes.
Verdict: GOES
The Forbidden Wish by Jessica Khoury
Another retelling added before I got into reading that genre. This one is an Aladdin retelling with a unique twist. The jinni falls for him. I love retellings and Aladdin, Arabian Nights, those are my favorites 🙂 This one stays!
Verdict: STAYS
I’ve read most of Stacy Henrie’s books and enjoyed them all. This was her first book, I believe, and I remember adding it because I wanted to go back and read it. I still plan to one of these days 😉 If you enjoy historical romance, I highly recommend this author!
Verdict: STAYS
I cannot believe that I haven’t read this one yet! Red Queen is one of my favorite series. I think a series binge is in order to get through this. What do you think?
Verdict: STAYS
This series intrigues me. The main character is a jumper, meaning she can teleport anywhere in the world at any time at the blink of an eye. I remember adding it, but never got around to reading them. For now, I will keep book one, but remove book two until I’ve read the first 😉
Verdict: STAYS
