A thrilling story in the Night Huntress series from USA Today bestselling author, Jeaniene Frost.

Vampire Cat Crawfield Russell is looking forward to a little down time with her best friend, Denise. But when witches crash the party, a fun getaway turns into a paranormal showdown.

Vampire Cat Crawfield is experiencing a new role as a mother. Turns out, trying to manage a perfect domestic life for her daughter is more...challenging than Cat ever imagined. Since things have finally quieted down in the undead world, her husband, Bones, suggests that Cat recharge by spending a girls-only getaway with her best friend, Denise.

Cat and Denise intend to spend the week doing nothing more than dancing, drinking, and sightseeing. Unfortunately, they stumble across a deadly summer solstice ritual performed by powerful witches who have no intention of letting their uninvited guests live to reveal what they saw. Will this girls-only getaway turn out to be the last vacation – ever! – for Cat and Denise?

A quick, exciting read! A Grave Girls’ Getaway by Jeaniene Frost is a short novella set in the Night Huntress world after the events of Wicked All Night. Cat has had a few years adjusting to being a mom to her daughter Katie, but she’s tired. She worries about her and the life Katie had prior to Cat and Bones saving her. She wants her daughter to have a normal life, to know she’s loved and safe….basically what every parent wants. This worry culminates in her spying on Katie which leads Bones to send Cat off on a girls’ getaway with Denise.

The plot is short and to the point. Cat and Denise are enjoying a weekend away when they come across a coven of witches offering a sacrifice to a water goddess. Cat being Cat cannot let this stand, saves the teenage boy, and gets herself cursed in the process. Now it is up to Denise to save Cat so they can both go home to their families.

I loved seeing Cat and Denise together again. They are so much fun. Denise is one of my favorite characters. The abilities she has from being demon branded are interesting to see in action, and Spade tends to keep her from any harm so she doesn’t get much chance to exercise those muscles. We get to see them here, and I couldn’t have been happier.

Overall, I enjoyed A Grave Girls’ Getaway. It was fun to return to the world and see how it has expanded since the series came to a close. I liked that this was another adventure, yet still stood on its own. If you are a fan of the series, I highly recommend you give this one a read.

*I buddy read this one with Berls @ Because Reading, Anne @ Books of My Heart, and Brandee @ (un)Conventional Bookworms. We were all in agreement….4 stars!
