Down The TBR Hole is a meme originally created by Lia @ Lost in a Story that revolves around cleansing your TBR of all those books you’re never going to read and sort through it all to know what’s actually on there. Lia is no longer blogging, so Jody @ I’m Into Books has taken over. Be sure to join the linky on her site!
Happy Saturday y’all! Today, I’m continuing my journey down the TBR hole today. As of writing this post, my current Goodreads TBR shelf has 262 books on it; my physical shelf, my ARC shelf, and Kindle TBR shelf have more than I care to share at this time (mainly because I don’t want to count them). Want to join me?
It works like this:
- Go to your Goodreads to-read shelf.
- Order on ascending date added.
- Take the first 5 (or 10 (or even more!) if you’re feeling adventurous) books. Of course, if you do this weekly (or monthly like me), you start where you left off the last time.
- Read the blurbs of the books
- Decide: keep it or should it go?
I will only being doing this once a month, typically the first Saturday. And I’m probably going to do 10 or more each time. I’m starting with my Goodreads TBR. I’d like to leave only books I plan to read on there and remove all the others. I started this journey on a TTT post. You can follow the journey here: Down the TBR Hole.
Love and Decay, Volume 1 by Rachel Higginson
I own this one and started it a few summers ago, buddy reading with two friends. Life got in the way, and we didn’t finish. I WANT to finish this one though as I’m really enjoying it. What’s not to love about romance during a zombie apocalypse?!
Verdict: STAYS
Lily’s Promise: Holding on to Hope Through Auschwitz and Beyond by Lily Ebert and Dov Forman
I added this one to my TBR after following this family on TikTok. I love their sweet relationship. The stories she’s shared through the platform are collected here, and I’d love to read it one day. So it stays.
Verdict: STAYS
Beth and Amy by Virginia Kantra
Another one I own already. I loved the first book in this contemporary Little Women duology, and I have no excuses for not reading book two yet. I think I need to make it a priority…soonish 😅
Verdict: STAYS
Empire of the Vampire by Jay Kristoff
My husband is kinda mad that I haven’t read this one yet. He was just excited for it as I was and has already read it twice (or maybe three times?) as well as the sequel that came out earlier this year. I think I’ll make it my spooky season read. What do you think?
Verdict: STAYS
Folk Around and Find Out by Penny Reid
This is such as fun series as it revisits characters from the Winston Brothers series and gives them their story. I loved book one and cannot believe I’ve yet again fallen behind 🤦🏼♀️ It stays!
Verdict: STAYS
Wildbound by Elayne Audrey Becker
I FINALLY got a copy of this one. I loved book one so much that I read it in a day and half, then promptly reread it. It was that good. I cannot wait to dive back into this world. The imagery is so vivid that it feels like you are living it as you read.
Verdict: STAYS
I added this to my TBR and preordered it when one of my favorite TikTok people said she was publishing her book. I cannot believe I haven’t read it yet. I need to make it a priority ASAP.
Verdict: STAYS
I do not remember adding this book to my TBR, however after reading the blurb I can see why it made it there. I love sci-fi and this sounds like a great book. But maybe not for me…at least not right now.
Verdict: GOES
The Strange Case of the Alchemist’s Daughter by Theodora Goss
Not going to lie, this book intrigues me which explains why it’s on my TBR. However, it’s not my typical genre, nor is it something I see myself reading at anytime in the near future. So, it goes.
Verdict: GOES
A Thousand Steps Into Night by Traci Chee
I’m excited for this one, and I cannot tell you why it’s sat on my TBR for so long other than I was having a hard time finding a copy. BUT never fear, I just downloaded it through KU. Not sure how long it will remain there, so if you are interested, I’d download ASAP.
Verdict: STAYS

I should do another round of this with my Goodreads books, lol. I think I gave up at one point. You’re doing so good with it!
