Happy Sunday y’all! This week marked our last summer camp for little man. Three weeks in a row and we’re all tired 😅 He participated in a couple of local drama camps and had a blast. I know I’m his mom, so I’m biased, BUT his talent really does amaze me. To get up in front of a crowd of people he doesn’t know and nail a monologue that he worked on over three days is impressive. I have his permission to share it with y’all. This was last week’s camp.

Now on to the rest of summer. Our clinic officially closes its doors for good this Friday. It’s bittersweet, but also welcome at this point. I’m ready for the next chapter. After that, our summer is free. We’re planning on a day or two up in Nashville with the cousins and maybe a trip to Dolly’s Splash Country in Pigeon Forge.

Reading wise, it was not a good week. I DNFed more that I read, giving up on three and finishing one (maybe two if I get a chance to read today). I think I’m in a slump after reading three really good ones in a row. What do you guys do to get out of a slump? Typically, I read an old favorite, but I’m already doing that, and it isn’t helping 😅

  1. So exciting to have a free summer of possibilities ahead! When I’m stuck I switch genre or sometimes just books. We are doing a Murderbot Read-along in July – August. Jen put it together but I’m hosting it on my Discord because I created a server of my own. My experience with Discord is still minimal though.

    • I devoured the first Muderbot novella. I wound up listening to the graphic audio and just broke my own no buy rules and bought the whole series 😂 I’ll go check out the Readalong and join y’all.

  2. He is fantastic, I might be biased too because he’s your kid but that was amazing.
I am still trying to focus enough to read. Once everything settles down again maybe I can get back to reading and blogging like I originally planned.

Have a great week Lillian! Happy Reading xoxox

  3. Thanks for sharing your son’s video, he is so good! I totally had the same issue at the end of last month with DNFing audiobooks. I never know exactly what gets me out of the slump. I guess just finding a book I do want to read and enjoy? Ugh. I am reading Embrace the Serpent right now and really enjoying it. I hope you do as well. Hope you have a good week! And I get what you’re saying about the clinic closing and on to a new chapter. I hope it’s a great chapter for you, enjoy the time off for now!

    • Thank you ☺️ I’m looking forward to the next chapter. As my husband says, we are cautiously optimistic 😅 Embrace the Serpent is good so far. Just taking me longer than usual to read. Have a great week!

  4. Oh nice! I’ve been up to Nashville a few times myself for book signings! Lol. I did make a weekend out of it once when my parents came along and saw the TN Parthenon which I LOVED! I have gotten to seen the real one in Greece so I was really impressed with this one in TN. Need to go back there one day I feel like! Lol.

Nice new reads! Those are new to me ones but I hope you enjoy them once you get to read them!

    Here’s my StS

    Have a GREAT day!

  5. You have a very talented son – and I’m not biased… As for the reading slump – it’s difficult. I’m still in mourning that no other book I’ve read for the last week isn’t The Incandescent. But I do try to let those emotions go, because all the others are still good reads and it’s shame to spoil them. I hope you get a chance to relax a bit – it sounds like everything has been busy and intense recently.

    • Thank you! I will put books I’ve DNFed aside especially when I feel it is due to my own reading slump and try them again later. I think with everything going on, I just haven’t had the brainpower to focus on them 😅

    • He did enjoy it! I knew he was looking forward to it when I didn’t have to fight to wake him up in the mornings 😂 Have a great week Rolé!
