Happy Sunday y’all! I’m writing this on Friday. We left yesterday (Saturday) for Disney, so as you are reading this, I’m walking around Galaxy’s Edge at Hollywood Studios, hoping to see the Mandalorian and Grogu 😁 This past week flew by and left my heart heavy. The news was heartbreaking this week from the cheerleader with her baby in the closet to the woman on the transit train to the school shooting and assassination of Charlie Kirk. It was just a lot to process. Our nation is so divided, which is hard for someone like me that is conservative but also somewhere in the middle with neither party representing me.

While I may not have agreed with Kirk on everything, I felt like his mission should be that of every American. He openly sought and welcomed honest debate, frequently debating people who vehemently opposed his own views. Kirk believed that open debate and honest conversation is how you find middle ground between opposing views. And in a country built on democracy, how can we survive without those honest conversations? Again, I may not have agreed with him on everything, but I do agree with open, honest conversations and debate.

With everything that was going on and everything I need to do to leave for vacation, I didn’t get much read this past week. I managed to read one book, finishing it just before we left. I seriously doubt I’ll read anything this week.

📖🎧 Currently Reading

At the moment, nothing. I don’t think I’ll start anything while we are gone. I’m too tired when we get back to the hotel after a full day at the parks 😅

  1. It was a sad week and I don’t condone political violence as the answer. It was telling how without any evidence the GOP immediately condemned the left and called for prosecution and quick death for Democrats. Once it was found to be a young, white male from a family of Trump supporters it was we should pray for him and that he seek Jesus Christ. That’s a pretty big turnaround just based on political beliefs. Somehow we are failing young white men. I think perhaps they need more community than phones and video games provide. I don’t know. I hope you have a great vacation.

    • I agree. It’s weird for me since I really don’t identify with either party to see how they treat each other. And how the different news outlets report too. Just sad all the way around. Sad that anyone would think violence is the answer and sad that we can’t find common ground anymore.

  2. Hope you have a great time at Disney! It’s been so long since I’ve been there. I want to go back but it becomes more unaffordable every year. Sigh…hope you’re having a blast though! I know I didn’t read a lick when I was there, no regrets either! Lol.

  3. Hope you are having a wonderful time at Disney. I didn’t hear about the cheerleader, that is sad. It was a rough week. I hate how strong the political divide has made people. I used to be conservative as well, and in some things I might still lean that way, but unfortunately the people we have in office are not representing us the way they should. Can’t wait to hear about your trip when you get back, and if you don’t get any reading done, that’s okay, you’re having fun!
