Happy Sunday everyone! You read my title right. Santa came to our house a little early this year. We let little man open all his presents, including his stocking yesterday. I love this age! He was so excited finding his presents under the tree, and unlike last year where it took nearly an hour to open his presents, we were done in less than 15 minutes 😀 Star Wars and Legos were the items most requested this year along with books. This kid loves his books, wonder where he gets that from 😉

Why did we open so early? Well, as you’re reading this, we are on our way home to spend the week with family. We debated loading the car with our gifts to little man and letting him do the whole Christmas thing at Nana’s BUT he always gets so much from both sets of grandparents. It always looks like we are moving when we come home…plus we got him the Lego police station which is over 800 pieces. I didn’t want to risk putting that together and then trying to bring it back home. I now understand why there is Kragle in the Lego movie after 3+ hours of putting Legos together yesterday. My fingers are actually sore!!!

Besides our excitement yesterday, we really didn’t do much this week. Little man had his preschool Christmas program on Monday night and party on Tuesday, then his vacation started a few days before the rest of the school system. Reading wise, I just finished my first ARC from 2016 and I must say it was AMAZING!!! I can’t wait to share it with y’all. What have you done this week?

Currently Reading

I started this one last night and it caught my attention immediately. I’m such a sucker for historical fiction, add a sweet romance in the mix and I’m sold 😀 Plus I just couldn’t resist reading a holiday book this week!

What are you reading this week?

You may have noticed that I got A LOT of review copies this week. BIG THANK YOU to HarperTeen for those 😀 I cannot wait to get started on them!!!

This week is going to be busy. Today we are on the road back home and will be spending the day with my in-laws, exchanging gifts and allowing the kids to play. Then it’s on to my parents. If I’m being completely honest with you (which I like to do with you all for some crazy reason), I’m not much in the mood this year and I’m dreading this week. It’s been a hard year for us, starting with losing our baby. I keep thinking that our family should be 4 instead of 3 and I should have a 6 week old to snuggle with, but God had other plans and I need to remember those. And my Papaw. I’m really missing him and the closer it gets to Christmas the worst it gets.

BUT I plan to not dwell on those things. My sweet husband won’t let me. We’ve had good news this week. He signed a contract to work in a clinic back home when he finishes residency in June. So no more living 3 hours away from family, we’ll be home 😀 Plus I have Star Wars to look forward to this week as well. It’s all my husband has talked about for the last week so Wednesday can’t get here soon enough!!

  1. I hope that you’ll have a wonderful week, even if you’re not really feeling it right now! I completely understand that it’s difficult to feel the Christmas spirit when things could have been different and happier, but I’m sure you’ll be caught by the love anyway 🙂
I’m glad you guys had a nice time opening the presents yesterday, sometimes, doing the gifts in advance of traveling is the only way to go.
    Happy Holidays!

  2. ***HUGS*** Sorry this year has been so rough. Maybe being around family will help you get through it all. Christmas Magic works in amazing ways.
Safe trip to and home! I hope you enjoy Christmas with your family.

I know how you feel, my back and fingers would hurt putting together Legos and for some reason Santa bought him so many one year I am not sure if “she” forgot “she” (whoops I meant he) had to put them together. Wont make that mistake again! 😉

Have a great week, Lillian! Merry Christmas & Happy Reading! ox

  3. You have a lot of great looking books…all new to me, except the Colleen Hoover, which I hope to get at some point. I’m planning to finally read November 9 this week.

Great idea to let your little man open his gifts from you ahead of time. What is the point of transporting them there and back again?

Enjoy the holidays…here are MY WEEKLY UPDATES
